New Class System - WHEN?

Featured Replies

I've seen and heard debated the question of expanding the current 4 class system to 5 or 6 classes.

My question is when would this likely occur?

From what I've been told, the KHSAA BOC will make a decision in their July meeting. They will then get input on their decision from the supers, principals and football coaches. They hope to have everthing finalized by September. As to the effective date, the effect of more classes on existing game contracts will need to be considered.

From what I understand, the jump to more classes would take effect for the 2007 season as this season is the last in the two-year cycle.

I think that we will have a new class system next season, and with that, you can gurantee that they split us and the other Louisville district up again.

Hate to tell you RP but all the five and six class alignments I heard from a BOC member and another advisory member have that there will be one district from hell with teams from Louisville.

Butler, Male, Manual, PRP, St. X and Trinity

(there was one other Louisville school...can't remember if it was Southern or maybe Seneca???)

Now under a change that counts only boys in the school...Male would likely drop to 4-A and Butler also....

I guess it is great to say that you were the state runner-up!

Probably Ballard.

I would assume that would put CCH at least 5A (if there is a 6 class system.)?

Here's a link to a previous discussion.... I believe CCH will be 4A with HHS, not 5A. Post #33 is what you are looking for.

Thanks Sandman,

I had been looking for your post on that to show Fan the answers (due to your fine work!)

Don't you find it interesting that this assumption about both Cov Cath AND Highlands having large #'s keeps coming up over and over on here?

Many people apparently seem to believe that because CCH & HHS have approximately the same number of state titles in a time span as Trinity and St. X, this means they have the larger # of students (3A wise) & somewhat similarly an unfair advantage like X & T do.

HHS and CCH do NOT have a numbers advantage over their competition like X and T do, yet have dominated the title race in their class almost the same way.

Funny how we don't have the ruckus raised about that N.KY dominance in 3A like we do the Louisville dominance in 4A ...........hummmm:sssh:

Cheers, Woody Jr

Good Post Woody. The thing that gets me most, is all the whining about how this 6 class system, if done the way I suggest in the other thread, ( and how I'm pretty sure is the way it is being proposed), is put in place, it will have next to no effect on the present 4 classes other than change the class number. I wish more people would do the math and learn what it is that the proposed change will do before they get all hot and bothered. I don't want a change, but I'll live with it if it happens. And trust me, it's gonna happen.

How?

How?

Because you would be counting their WHOLE school...whats their enrollment?

Yep, like the amount of fussin & fightin on here when this years new playoff change was announced. As I said initially on here I figured KHSAA did not put all 8 regions in the draw for a rational reason, yet so many wanted to claim a conspiracy. So many folks "seem" to only view these things through their own personal schools perspective and often get paranoid anytime change is made. Gosh, it's HS football - not life or death.

Again, good work on listing the potential class breakdown. Everyone should take a look a that before making a reflexive judgement - and especially before posting on BGP:thumb:

Male would stay with us, for sure.
