Well I can't say for sure then. For what it's worth, I know Trinity doesn't make a habit of playing too far down in class. Over the last 5-10 years, they've been much more likely to go find big programs from out of state to fill out their schedule rather than looking to Kentucky teams from lower classes.

 

To a large extent, it's also about being in the right place at the right time with your schedule. You have to have teams who have open weeks that can be shifted to line up with one another, on top of having coaches who are willing to play one another.

I have said before that I don't know anything about Mayfield football, but here is someone who does. This has nothing at all to do with this season, but we have played Murray two years in a row. We traveled four hours to get there in 2013, and heard a lot of this same type of conversation. I actually bought into it until the game started. Murray's coach said the following in the local newspaper in 2013 after we traveled there and thrashed them 38-0. This is the only time I have seen Desales and Mayfield compared by a coach whose team played both in the same season. “Even though the Tigers faced a gauntlet of talented western Kentucky teams in the likes of Mayfield, Graves County, Madisonville-North Hopkins and district foe Caldwell County – twice – Duncan said there’s no doubt who the best team Murray High faced all year was following Friday night’s loss. ‘There’s no question that’s the best team we played. Even the games we lost, we were in them in the third and fourth quarter. That was a great football team we lost to.'" (Murray Ledger & Times, 11/30/13) Just sayin'......

Right now we stand at #5 IN THE NATION at all time wins and we are closing in on #4 and may very well be there by the end of the season if not sooner! Hope to see yall there in Nov. I sure hope the cardinals make it to the semi game and SNAKE will verify that I don't like to talk a lot of trash, BUT, a couple of colt fans have pushed my button,, I so hope you make it down here, this will be fun!

Aren't we all getting a little ahead of ourselves at this point? This matchup may not happen this year.

Desales doesn't understand what they are getting themselves into. War Memorial in November will be extremely hostile.......

 

Yeah between the trucks with giant speakers up against the fence at the in zone manned by drunken revelry that pelt words and the occasional beer can at their opponents and the giant concrete slab of seats, it can be intimidating, but its all about how the opponent takes it. Maybe they thrive on hostility and get excited by the intensity (like most good teams).... or they shrivel up and cower. I'm thinking Desales is the type of team that will as they say "eat it up" and thrive.

No exaggeration on the hostile part. Ask the two 72 year old ladies that were told "they can go over there if they want to cheer for the opponent".

Let's face it, it's 2 really strong programs that both feel have enough talent to win it all this year. Being a Mayfield fan for a good # of years, I feel I have a good idea when the Cardinals have the talent to take it all and when they may struggle. Granted, there's been years I gave them too much credit and they got it put on them and other years where I didn't feel so good and they still managed to win it. I will say, the last couple of years I've been very impressed with the Colts team and I'm sure they're strong again this year, so, if both are fortunate to get there and meet, I'm sure it'll take a super effort and game to beat them. I also think Desales will need to play an A game to beat the Cardinals. Both teams are used to playing bigger schools with more kids on the sidelines and both have faired well when they do. Both play a lot of kids and neither have many that goes both ways. It'll come down to who executes the best and makes the fewest mistakes, nothing more, nothing less.
