Pete Carroll makes another controversial decision to blow opening game

Featured Replies

Onside kick to start OT vs the Rams???? Rams fair catch it at the Seattle 49. Drive 25 yards and kick FG.

Seattle gets ball and on 4th and 1 actually give it to Lynch who is nailed for a 1 yard loss.

Why would you onsides kick to start OT?? I guess the theory is if you recover it and score the game is over. But if Rams recover it and score game is likewise over.

Freakin idiot. And you have the legion of boom.

What a maroon.

Legion of Boom had already given up 31 points at that point and then got burned (talking to you Richard Sherman) for the big gain that put the Rams in FG range.

Maybe he didn't think they could stop the Rams.

Interesting thing I heard on ESPN this summer discussing the last play of the Superbowl.

Said that Lynch was something like 2 of 6 or 7 during the season punching the ball in from that distance...one of the poorer averages in the NFL

Pete Carroll is a good

Coach that could be a great coach if he could only keep his head out of his butt.

Pete says he didn't call for an onsides kick. Kicker said he mis-hit it.

And had they got the ball back he would be a genius, come on guys your better than that.

Yeah.

No. No he wouldn't.

Watch the replay. There is no way the kicker mis-hit it.

If anyone believes that kick was a "miss-kick" I have a bridge to sell you.

That is the worst attempt at an explanation ever.

Pete needs to stand up and take credit for idiotic move #2 .

People could hate on Pete Carroll however since he went to Seattle he was able to put a team together that he wanted and has been very successful. They have won more games with his style of coaching and being aggressive than they have lost. I would take him in a heart beat as a coach. Not to mention players openly have said they love playing for him.

Was this a dumb decision yes. Just like Bill Belicheck when he went for it in fourth down against the colts years ago in their own 20 and ended up losing. Dumb decision but still one of the top coaches in the game at any level of football.
