One thing you guys are never short on confidence. Ballard is a lot better than McCracken any educated fan knows that. Just as you said, that is my opinion.

If you are lucky enough we will play and it will be fun for all. Is DeSales better than McCracken? We will see if we both make it. So just take care of your business, and get there and may the best team win. DeSales will play a very good Fern Creek team next week and if we play like last night, we will lose.

Great high school fball game just hate to be on the losing end. My opinion McC dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball. They exposed our youth on the line. One of hardest hitting games I've seen in a while. Both sides were laying the wood. Hate to see the home streak end but bottom line is don't mean anything other than bragging rights. Will help us in the long run.

This again. The game was not as close as the score suggests.

Overall we held him in check decently and hit him very hard. I think he had a hard time getting up several times. He did have a few good runs but he was not the most impressive to me, I thought #5 did a very good job.

 

Bottom line for me. Hughes is not an SEC football talent. Fast, sure. He wont play much if any at KY, if that offer even holds up for him. Cant be in a position that he has to catch or hold on to a ball. Special Team or D perhaps.

 

Cards got what we needed out of this game, match up with a team much better than they will see in 2A likely and had several chances to win. We will be fine. Cards roll on.

At the game Friday night, mccracken county set up a tent on the away side with approximately 10 chairs with monitors & audio replaying live game feedback for their offense/defense to study when off the field..

Just curious, but is this allowed in ky high school football..i haven't seen anything like it before..just curious!

Mayfield lost. Big deal. It's one game. We have fern creek this week, and we could easily lose that one. Now from what I am reading here, is that if any part of Mayfield is soft, then they will be in trouble if they meet DeSales. We are built to be physical.

If McCracken won the battle of the trenches, that could spell trouble for Mayfield in a matchup with DeSales. Again, not sure how good Ballard is, but their strength of schedule year in and year out cannot be questioned. That being said, here is what their coach said after our game against them. “They are brutes up front … masssive,” Ballard head coach Mike Jackson said. “You cannot win if you cannot run the ball." (And about the Colts' offense) - "We had a blitz package we worked on all week. We were ready for it. We folded a little under pressure.”

Last year McCallie out of Chatanooga had this on their sideline against BG. I guess it is so new that there are no rules about it. Because how can it be fair for 1 side to have it (ie have the money to pay for it) and the other side not?

Good question Pep! I think the jury is still out on that since they haven't played a 6A team yet. Not totally their fault because pretty much all 6A West schools are in their district which is yet to be played.

I will try to address a few of these .

 

It was the correct call and the ref's did right correcting it. Arnett forward pitched the ball, that is a pass

I don't know about the Daniel call but the same thing happened to Mayfield where we caught it on the 5 and it was call back.

The false start looked like the McCracken player moved 1st causing the Mayfield player to move.

The clock starting before the chains were set, it looked as if Kennemore was out of bounds and the clock should have not started at all.

Overall , I thought we got some breaks and squandered some. I'm not too terribly upset with the officiating except for the clock thing at the end.

1)Thanks, I didn't have a good view (I did state I'd like to see it on film).

2)You are correct, that did happen but here's the difference as I saw it: Arnett scrambled for several seconds and even reversed his direction I believe, which would allow time for a lineman downfield. Jones' pass was a 3 step drop quick release.

3)Defense can move as much as they want as long as they don't encroach, correct? Didn't see any Mustangs in the neutral zone until after the RT rocked and step backward.

4) I was in agreement that the Cardinals got hosed on the clock, even at the minimum.

#3- I don't think you move towards the line that will make the offensive player react . Which is what I thought happened . The McCracken player moved forward, the Mayfield player reacted. Anyway, that's how it looked to me.

 

As for the play of ineligible player down field, I have no idea if it was the correct call. I do know we had one called on us and it was probably correct.

That game against Manual last season didn't help McCracken's image. I know they were super district, but even so it doesn't look good.

 

I remember most felt McCracken wouldn't score 10 points on Manual's defense or be competitive in this game. The score was 20-0 at the half. McCracken was getting the ball in space and moving it efficiently. Manual's coaches were bickering most of the first half and had a sense of worry (opinion of one McCracken parent who likes to sit on the visitor side to be more relaxed). I will give Manual coaches credit on their second half adjustments. There was one huge difference that needs to be pointed out. Our coaches continued to have the QB drop his hand for the snap in the second half. Took about 3 plays into the 3rd quarter and Manual was jumping the line the rest of the night (credit to them). Our coaches completely failed on this. We could have marched downfield on offside calls with a hard cadence opposite the hand drop until the Manual defense backed off. Stopping the hand drop at the minimum should've have been done. Instead, Manual lived in our backfield the entire second half totally disrupting the passing game.

 

The lack of passing game by McCracken set up Manual with several short field positions and they eventually overcame the deficit. Late in the 4th Manual was up 28-20 but McCracken had plenty of time. Possessions were exchanged and McCracken had one last chance starting around their own 25. Two incomplete passes, a penalty, and a sack put the Mustangs in a 4th and very long from their own 3. They went for it (incomplete pass), Manual took over on downs and punched it in from there to tack on the final of 35-20. McCracken had all three time outs (0:47 or so) and very possibly should've punted expecting Manual to run three times. Don't think Manual would've risked throwing another INT or saving timeouts for McCracken. Odds were horribly microscopic either way, but 4th and forever (from your own EZ) against one of the best D's in the state? The punt was probably the lesser of two evils. All be it, the game was very competitive to the end. Yes, it was a home game for the Mustangs and 1 vs 4. We all understand any team filling that 4 spot is nowhere near the typical 4 seed. So I'm not quite understanding how this game "didn't help McCracken's image". I walked away from that game feeling like our boys definitely played good enough to win but we were strictly outcoached in the second half. Manual went on to play St. X on the road losing 12-7 in a dogfight.

For me, I think the "image" thing comes down to Manual is by all regards considered that staple #4 team in the old Super District. They play T, X and H tough every game, but don't win many. They are respected for the way they compete by those teams. So when Manual goes on the road 4 hours and goes down 20 to zip at the half to get more respect across the state I think it's about finishing that game. It didn't happen, so fans of the Big 3 don't and won't give McCracken any significant credit until you beat a team they respect. No worries just keep building!:thumb:

 

But I am really looking forward to the BG vs McCracken game. Think it will be a good one!

I totally agree Purple, especially if they were relating McCracken to the top 5 (I surely wasn't). The discussions I saw were about Ballard, then the Manual game got tossed in the mix. Another poster felt the debate was if McCracken was a "good" 6A team. Wow, guess a top 10 finish in the first two years of existence doesn't qualify one as "good". Not talking "great" or "title contender" here. Boy, sure is hard to get a crumb at the 6A table.:(

 

Yes, I'm really glad the Mustangs have an opportunity to play Bowling Green. Win or lose it's a great thing for our program and this end of the state. From what I understand, an old hatchet had to be buried for the game to happen.
