Yep, period. What part of mayfield's game was better?

Cards had several chances to win this and via a dumb taunting penality would have won. That said, Mayfield was not in this one had MC not had 4 fumbles. As I told all before, beware of when the sleeping bear wakes and don't poke him. They exposed our concern, the trenches and did so on both sides of the ball. They are/were better end of story. #40 , Hughes brother, for MC had a nice game subbing in at nose. Especially for a kid who just joined the team Monday.

I think besides trajons long TD the rushing game was fairly even. To be honest I figured he would break a few more. Haven't seen the stats but cash picked up positive yards on most of his carries along with Hughes.

I thought we played pretty good defense for the most part in the second half. Mayfield gave up 10 points in regulation and looked pretty good. I thought Mayfield got confused some on pass defense especially passes in the middle of the field.

Better in the trenches............yes. Better overall? Not to me. Our passing game was basically a non factor, and to me it was a combination of pressure on qb and him having an off night. McCracken had a great game plan to shut down the underneath routes, which they did, and we could not complete anything down field successfully. This led to the running game struggling to get much going. I thought McCracken had some excellent LB play tonight, also.

McCrackens backs exposed a few of our defensive guys that are soft, yep, soft. Wanted no part of the contact.

Hughes didn't impress me , I thought for the most part we bottled him up and hit him hard. He did have a few impressive plays but not many.

I agree with the part about our underneath passing routes getting shut down and not being able to make many throws down field. McCracken 's defense did a good job stopping this. McCracken has a lot of good athletes.

Hey, let's be real, we really shouldn't be able to compete with them, but we do! It took overtime for them to beat a II A school, and they stormed the field like they beat trinity, or St. X. The cards will be ok, we won't face any 2A schools any better than McCraken.

I don't know his final stats, but I heard at halftime 9 carries for 14 yds for Hughes

I agree Hughes didn't have his best night but he did make some plays when it counted. He definitely has to learn to secure the ball before he gets to UK. The biggest surprise to me tonight was the absence of Tyce Daniel. .other than the TD that got called back I can't remember us going to him much. He was basically a non factor and IMO he's our most dangerous playmaker.

Overall we held him in check decently and hit him very hard. I think he had a hard time getting up several times. He did have a few good runs but he was not the most impressive to me, I thought #5 did a very good job.

I actually agree with you that we did a pretty good job on him, he got popped several times. The loss really doesn't bother me that much, the softness of some of our guys does.
