Every story seems like it always has 3 sides, the side of both parties, then the actual truth. There is probably some truth in what both sides are saying. Some of the younger kids may not be as good as what BC is accustomed to in the past, but it is the coaches responsibility, along with the player, to be the best that he can be. That takes hard work and dedication from both sides, and a kid that young should not be given up on. Some of these kids are playing JV ball before they are even ready to perform at that level.

 

As for parents being afraid of saying anything for fear of it being held against their kid, that is getting back to the same feeling parents had during the Jody years. And no matter what anyone says, it goes on. For some reason, it doesn't feel like a big family at BC anymore. There is too much jealousy and bickering among coaches, players, and parents. I just wish I knew a solution to it all, because if it doesn't stop, BC baseball is going to be diminished to a lower class than what they are accustomed to.

 

First of all, in just a few posts ago, you agreed that a Junior on the JV Team, probably didnt stand much of a chance to make the Varsity team anyway, so lets down lose track of what we discussed earlier.

 

These things that are happening now are no different then what has went on for years, this year it just happen to upset parents that had a BGPreps Account and username, or you probably would have never heard anything about it.

 

On the fact of No chemistry, I believe that is in the eyes of ones that want the new staff to fail and in the eyes of a Past Coach. All of the other staffs had their chance, let these guys have theirs.:thumb:

In years past, Juniors would be a rarity on the JV team. As mentioned before, at BC, if you're not on the varsity by the time you get to be a junior your chances arent too good of playing your SR year. Telling kids the cold hard truth was prominent back in Jody's days. It worked for him and it's obviously working now. Look at the success. Kids these days are never told "the truth" anymore and they and their parents, as Jack Nicholson said, "cant handle the truth". It's obvious who on here has or has not coached before.

I tend to agree with Lucky Eddie about "the truth". It is sometimes a distraction to have seniors on a team when they will not play a primary role. You then have to deal with people complaining about why you are not playing your seniors. The coaches have had 3 years to evaluate the players and the players have had 3 years to impress the coaches. Cutting right now stirs a little controversy but keeping non playing seniors is a headache the whole season. The "cut" is probably not really a shock to any of the players, they probably saw it coming or at least had an idea. Some players could use it as motivation, refuse to give in, and work to improve. Others could complain about fairness, give up the sport and talk for the next 30 years about how they were cheated out of their senior year.

Well for one thing, I've told those boys that were put down, to not give in and to come back and show those coaches just what ball playing is. Everyone seems to look at one game and say wow that kid did good that day. But look at overall stats. Look who had the most errors per game vs the good plays and the good at bats. Total it up and explain why the ones with the worst stats get pushed up to Varsity after the end of JV season. You don't build a championship ball club by showing favortism to players with errors EVERY game and leaving behind the ones that make the plays.

The cold sometimes hard truth is this is BC baseball, and why they have been successfull for many years. I would rather they tell the kid if he doesnt improve before next year theres not going to be a spot for him, then see how bad he wants it but thats not their style. But the coaches will not hesitate to tell you the grass is always green because they are always pulling WEEDS.

LOL - yea - this is what is commonly referred to as a "glamour shot". Between the poor lighting, the ability to "touch up" the negative, and some heavy makeup, I don't think it looks too bad.

 

Not that I'm fishing for a compliment, mind you...
