July 23, 201511 yr Did you even read the article? 1. The lady is Dutch, not American. I couldn't give a flying crap about what the Dutch do. 2. She performs the "marriage" herself. There is nothing in the article that even says it's legally recognized. 3. No one said there wouldn't be people attempting to marry their pets. We said there's not a chance in hell that the government would recognize it. That point still stands. Keep trying though.
July 23, 201511 yr Yeah...... She's been doing this for 12 years and does it via website and lives in The Netherlands. I'm not sure this proves your point. And by not sure, I mean it doesn't. I was just trying to be polite. This seems to be quite a stretch.

This has nothing to do with the legalization of gay marriage. To say that gay marriage led directly to this is really just silly. As UKMustang said, zero chance this ever gets recognized, now or ever. An isolated case of some nut job wanting to marry their dog is not the beginning of that slippery slope that some have said would happen.
July 23, 201511 yr I think it's interesting that she doesn't allow divorce, but she does allow the owner to euthanize the pet spouse. Much cheaper alternative.
