Bruce is available for trade according to Reds

Featured Replies

Once they get through the All-Star game, expect a fire sale. I don't think anyone is really off limits, although getting rid of Frazier right now will certainly tick off a lot of people.

Bruce -- if you believe that last season + 1st 1/2 of this season is the "real" Jay Bruce and he won't change to get better, unload him for best deal you can get. If you believe the guy from seasons prior to last is the "real" Jay Bruce and the last season and 1/2 is the aberration, either keep him to see if you are right OR extend him for a couple of years while he is at the bottom of his market.

Frazier -- tough call. I believe he is playing way above his capabilities which argues for a trade. He is owed $3.75M this year & $8.25M next year, is arbitration controlled in 17 and UFA in 18, so he is viewed as a bargain for any potential trading partners, which also argues for a trade. Assuming a Reds rebuild aims to be competitive in 2017 (earliest) or 2018 (more realistic), it's hard to imagine keeping him ($15M?) ALONG WITH Votto at $25M, Bailey at $21M and Meso at $13.125M. (Iglesias is signed for 2018 at $5.2M, but that is just upside. If he is in the rotation in 2015 for the Reds, he is a bargain. If he is not, it is not a huge $ hit.) That also argues for a trade.

BUT . . . he is such a good guy! As much as I hate to say it, Walt has to do the right business thing and trade him. If he can get that much back from the Mets, it would be interesting to see what others might offer. I'd to the Mets deal tomorrow if they are truly offering it.

If Cincy were STL last night- Quick, get me NY, Boston and LA on the phone. Fraziers stock will never be higher. Sell, sell sell.

Meanwhile in Cincy- Quick get me those guys in China that make our jerseys. We need 500 more Frazier jerseys ASAP. Let's order more of those bobble head dolls as well. Heck, let's have a Frazier combo meal at the concession stand. That ought to sale an additional 1000 tickets.

When was the last time STL traded an all star player in the middle of the season?

They rarely do because they are rarely 14 games out mid season. However, if they were in the Reds shoes, I'd bet the farm Todd and Jay would be packing for a new destination.

They dont, they get guys you never heard of or that you think are past their prime, give them the Cardinal potion, and they become all stars again.

They aren't afraid of moving on from a franchise face or player if it improves their ability to win now and down the road. I think that is what NKY Bandit meant.

Not sure where Bruce would be a fit elsewhere.

Kenton lakes.

Kind of like Jhonny Peralta, the best typo in the game.

That's the way I see it. They took some heat for letting Poo-Holes go, but I'm guessing Cards fans quit complaining in a hurry.

Now that the game is over, let the purge begin.

Can't be planning on trading Frazier after announcing the $5/ticket game with cards in early August.

Got to sell those extra dozen or so tickets, a jersey or two and some hot dogs.

If the Reds trade Bruce and plug in Schumacker in RF I'm done.

If they move Bruce, I'd imagine Rodriguez or Waldrip would be given a shot at RF before Schumaker...

Even the cardinals don't get rid of talented guys who you can have for cheap right now. However when the player does become to expensive to keep they then move on. If the Cardinals were in the reds position I don't think they would trade him. They would keep him and build around him with young talent around him. Then in two years when he becomes to expensive then they would move him.
