Confederate flag is gone. Is New Orleans' iconic fleur de lis next?

IMO this is a councilman or two trying to ride the coattails for attention. Maybe parlay into a state congressional run or 15 minutes of fame. I can't see anything behind this one.

Not even in the same ballpark as the confederate flag.

They better close White Castles, Cracker Barrel and quit putting cotton in aspirin bottles.
I find Cracker Barrel extremely offensive and demand it be renamed the Caucasian Barrel.

We probably should abolish the Southern Baptists and all other Southern based religions of the time as well since the churches were supportive of the South. Why don't we just nuke the South, put all white people in jail and call it a day? Sorry...but it is just getting ridiculous.

How soon we forget the nine people killed because of the color of their skin...that's not counting all of those that occurred before. We would rather defend the colors on that flag than say "enough" to a symbol of racism flying on Capitol grounds.

Please rename the Cotton Bowl and ban Q-Tips . Thanks in advance

You would? Besides you who else on this site has defended keeping a Confederate flag over a public building? The question is how far do we take this. Honoring is one thing total denial is another.

I want to go on record as saying I'm against nuking all white people. Very much against it.

Ummm...TB&G is definitely against the flag flying over the Capitol...

I am being facetious, but then who is we???

Pretty sure she's saying "we" in a universal way, meaning society, not anyone specific.

That's what all this hyperbole is about, no? One person says "remove the fleur de lis" and we (I always use that in the universal sense, could use "you" but that's more accusatory than I like) pile on the hyperbole.

The Confederate/battle flag has no business on Capitol grounds. Businesses that want to distance themselves from it have that right, too. From what I've seen, it's probably a bad business decision, but every now and then you get a business owner that makes a decision on conscience rather than the bottom line. Individuals that want to fly the stars and bars have every right to do so, since it is part of their heritage. I hope that they will afford me the same respect if I choose to fly the Mexican flag, as it is part of my heritage.

Fly what ever flag makes you happy, when has anyone ever complained about the Mexican flag? We turned the White House into a rainbow and some of the protestors I saw at the SC state capitol were waving African flags. My great great grandfather came over on a boat from Ireland and if I see fit I'll fly the Irish flag. Knock yourself out.

If that is the case then, can I fly the French flag? I also find Congress offensive, can we ban them?
