After 3 weeks who are the pretenders and contenders?

 

Rather than starting a new thread I decided to dig this old thread up so we can see what was said then, and see what is being said now. Enjoy!!!!

Highlands looks unsteady at best, but until schools in their class start beating them I just don't think you can count them out. I see no way they don't make at least the semi's...unless the wheels just fall off.

In 5a they are certainly a contender. I wouldn't list them as a favorite, but I'd take the Bluebirds very seriously come playoff time.

And so the joke thread becomes real and the circle is complete.

Even though they are taking their lumps right now,, I think they will be better and battle tested when it counts. The "Highlands System" will always make them a Contender. However, with the current talent level in Ft. Thomas, their path to Bowling Green will be a more difficult one.

Well imagine that...no wonder all the NKY 6A teams are back on the HHS schedule again...they must all have this mentality!

 

I can hear it now in locker rooms all over NKY..."I think HHS is going to be down for the next couple years! We may have shot at them! Let's get them on the schedule now, we'll take a couple shots at them and when they get good again, we'll drop them and complain about them running up the score on us poor 6A teams!" Reply from coaching staff "Great plan coach!"

 

Being serious...would not be surprised if Ryle wins this game at all. However, would be surprised if it's by A LOT! Ryle isn't exactly blowing the doors off of other avg teams 1-3 levels below them.

Pre-contender. You just never know if they pull it together. Right now I'd say no. But you just never know.

I think a lot of people are hoping "Pretender" but the truth is "Contender". It may be a hard sale, but Highlands and CovCath are both contenders and only one of them can live up to that title. Who will it be?
