They also had a "close" season ending loss at Trinity 72-0. Simon Kenton does not belong in any conversation about the elites of Kentucky football, PERIOD.

6 of the Top 15 Public Programs of the Past 15 years reside in the new look 3A, and 8 of the Top 19.... that surprised me.

Just comparing the two lists though 6A is really the only place I think you see the private truly reign with an iron fist. Trinity and X are certainly next level programs.

 

NewCath is a superb program, and DeSales is becoming one... but those are really the only two "smaller" privates winning Championships consistently.. and both of those have taken on the chin to several of the public schools you see listed here (Beechwood, Danville, Mayfield, etc)

 

By and large one of the biggest revelations to me from doing this is actually that Kentucky is a very stout state in terms of Public School prowess.

Hazard should be in the top 10. Scott County is a worthy of it but I believe hazard has a little better resume.6A football is tough now.

 

This is a tough one.

 

Literall of all the teams I have included...no two teams share more of a mutual resume as Scott County and Hazard. For all intents of purposes they literally have truly dead even resumes

 

The exact same number of wins.

The exact same number of Finals.

The exact same number of Titles.

 

The lone difference is Scott County has one more Regional Title.

 

Scott County has also seemingly +3 in win/loss differential. SC has 45 losses and Hazard 48.

 

I would even say that for the "pound for pound" aspect they have even played the exact same playoff path. Both have been on the "easier" side of their respective class' bracket, and both have had to meet dominant programs in the Finals.

 

I can make an argument for their resume being a tie..but I can't concede Hazard's resume as stronger.

I don't see any way that Hazard would have the better resume. One less regional title with 3 more losses puts them right where they should be, a notch behind Scott Co on the list.

What's your point. You want SK considered an elite because they made the championship game (and got crushed) in 2008. The 2011 season is also a part of SK's body of work and proof that they don't belong in a discussion of elite programs.

I think they are considered but not making the cut to the top 10.

Scott County is thriving because of businesses like Toyota and there enrollment has grew. So I would say there success comes from the area growing in population. But if they got the better resume then they should be above Hazard.

Because as good as their record is it doesn't come close to the resume of the Top 10 teams.

 

#10 is Scott County 146 wins, 6 Regional Titles, 3 State Finals, 1 State Title

 

That's 23 more wins, 2 more State Finals, and One More State Championship

 

As mentioned on the Overall Ranking Thread... JH has a quality program..but until they bring home the title and reach the Finals more there are just simply other better programs.

Former McCracken Co. school Lone Oak went to two finals, one in 2007 and a 2nd in 2009.
