June 18, 201511 yr As Brady appeal nears, Goodell is stuck in a corner of his own creation This doesn't look good for the Commissioner.
June 18, 201511 yr Pretty well known the "science" can show plausibility either way you want to make the argument. I am unsure what this article is getting at or its relevance. People saying the Patriots were framed or in the words of Demaurice Smith, " it was a frame job by the commissioner’s office desperate to reestablish its authority." Ask yourself this question. What in the heck does that solve? The Commissioner wants to reassert his authority in this way? Really? Think how outlandish that is.
June 18, 201511 yr I wish this story would have shared exactly what numbers were wrong. Also at the end of the day the Patriots staff member still did apparently take the balls into a room with him after the refs had already checked the balls. So something definitely did happen, however the NFL may have screwed themselves if the numbers they put in the report were wrong. Even if the Pats did have the guy deflate the balls some, they almost will have to drop all charges if the numbers in the report are wrong. So the Pats could get out cleanly in this, even though they were doing something.
June 18, 201511 yr In typical Roger fashion, neither this nor any other rebuttal will have any affect on his handling of the appeal. May be the worst professional sports commish in my lifetime.
June 19, 201511 yr This is what happens when a lawyer tries to practice engineering! Statistically speaking, there was no difference in the balls the Colts and Patriots used. The Wells report did not cite this in their findings as it it did not support their pre determined agenda. If this goes to court, Brady will be the new majority owner of the NFL. Ted Wells : Science has no room for agendas.

What in the heck does that solve? The Commissioner wants to reassert his authority in this way? Really? Think how outlandish that is. They went into the game thinking the Pats were cheaters. They tested the balls at the half trying to prove that. At first glance since the pressure was what they thought was significantly down they accused them of cheating and leaked to the media the balls were severely under inflated. When they started to realize maybe they weren't that under inflated they found a way to "trick" the science and stay with their original thoughts and leaks. The frame job was to save face after actually thinking they caught them in January and leaking everywhere that they caught them.
June 19, 201511 yr All of the above may be true, but it still doesn't explain all of the other "non-scientific" stuff that happened with the texts, balls leaving the field, etc.
June 22, 201511 yr All of the above may be true, but it still doesn't explain all of the other "non-scientific" stuff that happened with the texts, balls leaving the field, etc. That is true but wasn't like 2/3rds of the Wells report based on their now flawed science? If they came out and said these texts and the balls leaving the field are the best evidence we have that would hold up better. My impression is they said the science is the best evidence and the texts and bathroom break help that.
