June 5, 201511 yr Author I read another report that says she is withholding the knife from the police and the defense. The police have claimed the knife was illegal and she says it was legal. I would bet she is incorrect and wants to keep it quiet as long as possible.

And if I'm defending one of the individual officers…I probably don't want the police department to have it either
June 6, 201511 yr The only way this makes legitimate sense is if the autopsy found something that was completely unknown to this point...and that information is going to be used to influence a deal/cooperation from one of the defendants. But whoever is the investigating agency, they absolutely should have access to the report. After all, isn't getting to the truth of what happened the most important thing here?

What agency is doing the investigation? Surely it's not the Baltimore Police so why would they get a copy.

If so, they need all of the evidence also. Don't know who else is. Mrs. Mosby is a prosecutor, she doesn't investigate, she prosecutes. Someone else has to do the investigation. Maryland State Police maybe?

Many large departments have an Internal Affairs division that does nothing but investigate other police officers. They in most cases are not police friendly. I don't if that's the case here or not as far as who's investigating, I just haven't read a lot about this case to know.
June 7, 201511 yr She's not the investigator...the police either Baltimore or another agency are probably the ones conducting the investigation. In this case however she did seek an indictment before the investigation was close to being completed. In the end I think G hit it, there is something that she's not entirely happy with in the autopsy report. I know the defense will get a copy as they should but so should the department and the investigators. I don't think there's anyway they don't get it. I think it's probably closer to Clyde's point about no leaks early on. Then again, there's a history of police and prosecutors not turning over all the exculpatory evidence to a defense team, even when required by law, so maybe this is their welcome to that world.
June 7, 201511 yr I don't have a problem with the DA pursuing this case , it is her job. If a crime was done then those officers should be punished. The problem lies in her future relationship with the police department. If I were her I would want to be as open as possible so not to come off with an agenda. Be an open book. If cops get the feeling she is trying to railroad them it will affect their future working relationship.

When she went out and had the press conference and then tried to put a gag order on the cops, I think she did irreparable harm to their future working relationship.
