Baltimore Prosecutor Attempts to Block Autopsy Report

Featured Replies

Mrs. Mosby is attempting to block the release of the autopsy and is not turning over a copy to the police. It has been common practice to do so.

She grandstands about the charges in a publicly televised speech and then tries this. Time for this prosecutor to step down. It appears she has an agenda.

It is definitely strange that she would block the autopsy report, but I'm not sure what her agenda would be. Her entire family is full of cops.

Her entire family is black also, right?! That's got to be a huge struggle for her as a black woman. Working to seek justice for a deceased black man and knowing that it could possibly take down some in that thin blue line that her family is woven into.

In Today's society, I wouldn't want to be any prosecutor in ANY case involving an officer involved shooting, regardless of race.

Is this one of those "sounds bad from a P.R. standpoint but is not a huge deal" things?

The defense for the accused will get to see the autopsy reports. That's what's important, correct?

Yes, the defense will get the report and yes, that is what's really important. The problem with society is that the media believes they are entitled to everything that is associated with any particular case and they hide behind the Freedom of Information banner.

I believe there are times when the fairness of the system involves letting the system play itself out and not trying everything on Nancy Grace or some other hack psuedo journalistic news show....and I'm talking to you AC

What does Al Cowlings have to do with this? :idunno:

But after her grandstanding she now wants to gag the defense and limit what can be released. That's the problem.

The odd thing to me is that according to what I can find, this is the first time an autopsy has not been given to the police. They are doing their investigation and it would be beneficial to their investigation to have all the facts, would it not?

But after her grandstanding she now wants to gag the defense and limit what can be released. That's the problem.

If her goal is to make sure nothing gets leaked prior to trial and the defense gets everything they need them I am struggling to work up any angst.

The facts will come out at the trial. If she doesn't have what she needs then she'll lose.

Why would she give the autopsy report to the Baltimore police when it is members of that police force that she is investigating?

Had she not already done her grandstanding I could agree with you. I'm less concerned about the actual release of the document and her own hypocrisy in the way she's handled the case.

Doesn't pass the smell test to me.

Think about it, something is in that report that will work against the prosecution and she doesn't want the masses to figure it out.

She's not the investigator...the police either Baltimore or another agency are probably the ones conducting the investigation. In this case however she did seek an indictment before the investigation was close to being completed.

In the end I think G hit it, there is something that she's not entirely happy with in the autopsy report. I know the defense will get a copy as they should but so should the department and the investigators.

It is definitely strange that she would block the autopsy report, but I'm not sure what her agenda would be. Her entire family is full of cops.

If she has political aspirations then I can see her throwing her family history under the bus in pursuit of a larger audience.
