May 28, 201511 yr Plans made. I'm in my 7th decade. My service starts "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it". Edited May 28, 201511 yr by Jaysie Left out
May 28, 201511 yr If I'm to be buried I want Flip Flops or chuck Taylors on, if I'm cremated the wife has to take me to the caribbean and put in me in the ocean. Other than that I have nothing I want done.
May 28, 201511 yr Closed casket, no idea why people think it is a good idea to stare at a dead person. The idea was probably a way for funeral parlor so to make more money. I don't care if I am embalmed just get the cheapest funeral you can get, casket optional. Remember go cheap on me because I am dead and I see no purpose in wasting money.
May 28, 201511 yr Cremation, no need for the expense of casket and all that mess...take the extra money, invite any and everyone who has anything to say to or about me, good or bad, and throw a party with the money that would have been spent on a casket, etc... Spread the ashes, well, she knows where..... I had an aunt who's husband passed away and he wanted his ashes spread at the Grand Canyon. Highly illegal...he now rests somewhere in that big hole in the ground.

May 28, 201511 yr Cremation, nothing fancy and no funeral. The kids and the wife know. I want my ashes spread half at PBS at my Bengals seat and the other half in the Caribbean as the family takes a cruise on the $$ saved called "Paps Cremation Cruise". I am not kidding. I don't know if any of the spreading of ashes is legal, but I have one son that will figure out how to do it and not get caught.
May 28, 201511 yr The only requests I've ever made known to anyone are: 1) under no circumstances is there to be an open-casket visitation; I hate those things, and 2) funeral mass (in the Tridentine Rite if it can be done) with simple burial. Those will be the basic things I'll keep forever... ... unless I become super rich and then I'm putting on a show the likes of which the Archdiocese of Louisville has never seen!
May 28, 201511 yr Once upon a time my cousin thought she might be interested in becoming a mortician/funeral home director. She went to one of the local funeral homes and began working there as an intern. On her first day, she was "shadowing" the owner. The owner let her sit in on a consultation while a new client planned his own funeral. After the meeting concluded, my cousin & her new boss walked outside only to find that their newest client had committed suicide in the parking lot. I think it goes without saying but she's no longer interested in that type of work.
May 28, 201511 yr Also, if I had enough money, I want someone to find quite a few C and D list celebs, and pay them to come to the service. They don't have to say anything or do anything, but I want people to come away from the service wondering why they were there, how I knew them, or if I just knew someone who looked like them. I also have quite a few letters and some notebooks, for certain people. I want them to know what they mean (or I guess meant) to me, in case I've never fully let them know.

May 28, 201511 yr Like Danny Bonaduce ? He was before my time, but yeah, that's the idea. I want someone to lean over to the spouse, mid service, and ask "That guy up there, who does he look like to you? He looks like Danny Bonaduce. It can't be him. They didn't know each other, did they? Why would he be here? It's not him, nah. Can't be. But man, they look similar." And then after the service, maybe he could go around and introduce himself to people. And just walk out.
