Can American Pharoah win the Triple Crown?

I might play a trifecta box of AP, Tale of Verve, Frosted and Keen Ice

There are those that have posted that there is no competition and AP is not a good horse. IMO that is wrong, and the field has a number of very formidable challengers. If AP is able to win, it will be quite an achievement.

I have said before. Many experts believe this is a very good 3 YO crop of horses.

I think it is a good crop too. The Derby lost all chance at having a good running time where Materiality got clobbered and was at the rear of the field. There was no need for AP and the others to go any faster up front. Preakness was on a sealed sloppy track in a monsoon. So we shall see what Saturday brings.

I think the crop of 3 year-olds goes even deeper than the ones we are seeing in the triple crown races. There are some really good horses with injuries, then there are a few which I am surprised fell off the TC map. One of those is Blofeld from the same local Midway farm as Keen Ice. The horse did nothing but win, then fell off the map. In reading through some comments in HorseRacingNation I found the following quote that was very interested:

It all comes down to which owner shells out the most money to Pletcher to run their horses. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Pletcher is loaded this year. And some very mysterious things have happened already. Pletcher should have had at least 6 in the derby this year, but no, every year some of his horses get injured or don't run anymore without hardly an explanation. this year by far he could have had the best chance to win a derby since Super Saver won it a few years back. Here's the list in no particular order. Daredevil: off the trail. Competitve Edge: Off the trail. Far from Over: Injured. Khozan: Injured. Blofeld: Off the trail. Carpe Diem: Headed to the Derby. Itsaknockout: Headed to the Derby. Stanford: Headed to the Derby. Materiality: Headed to the Derby. There were plenty of other Pletcher horses that were talented enough to get to the KY Derby, however they mysteriously stopped running and haven't heard from them again. Mike Relva and I have talked about this strange occurance happening every year with Pletcher, and it basically comes down to one thing. MONEY!

You herd it from me two weeks ago. AP is now your 1/5 favorite per TVG today. Bet your $2.00 and if he wins you get $2.20 in return. Those seeking the souvenir ticket, just remember, millions of people are doing the same thing so there won't be much of a difference. Whatever floats your boat. Good luck with all of your wagers.

I just don't think AP will win.

Materiality, Frosted, AP, Framento TRI BOX

1. Mubtaahij / 10-1 / 17-1

2. Tale of Verve / 15-1 / 21-1

3. Madefromlucky / 12-1 / 15-1

4. Frammento / 30-1 / 26-1

5. American Pharoah / 3-5 / 2-5

6. Frosted / 5-1 / 7-1

7. Keen Ice / 20-1 / 22-1

8. Materiality / 6-1 / 7-1

I'm not placing a bet today, just hoping that he pulls through and gets it done.

I don't have time to make it to Keeneland today. Where's the best place to bet online? (that is reliable and actually pays your winnings)

Belterra Park was packed. Ran in to bet Belmont and could not stay but a very nice crowd. Did the 5-6-8-3 in various small exactas, tri, super. Hope everyone born after 1970 gets to experience Triple Crown that they can remember.

Any horse with Phararoh in it I hope loses.

Plus I don't want to see a horse do it. Keep them trying but I'm afraid history will be made today.
