KHSAA sanctions Lawrence County, Pike County Central for Bylaw 15 Violations

Just saw the video....pretty clear. I think its ridiculous, however, that the young man has been arrested and criminal charges filed against him. The prosecutor jumped on that TV time...typical. It is what it is....a baseball incident that should be handled by the schools and coaches....from within. For the authorities to go after the Elkins kid and try to ruin him is wrong. .

4. The Pike County Central student-athlete that instigated the altercation, per the officials’ report, is suspended from varsity play through the conclusion of the District baseball tournament. During the period of suspension, the student-athlete may not be in the game uniform at any contest, home or away, and may not participate in any warm-up activity prior to the suspended games.

Pike County Central failed to make the regional tournament so the young man's season ended with that punch. It's unfortunate for all involved. Hopefully we won't see anything else like this going forward.

It's a fight in a game. If kids had charges pressed on them for things they say or do in the game a LOT of people would have this. I understand it was a cheapshot, but for the kid to react like that I imagine something had to have been said.

I don't like charges pressed, but I do believe he should have probably been suspended for the year from the sport or a few games at least.

I will say that if I was coaching a team and a player did this, the state wouldn't have to suspend him. I would kick him off the team.

The player that got hit missed more games then the player that hit him.

You can't be serious. Ridiculous? I don't care where the attack took place, it's an attack, plain and simple, the kid should be arrested and charged. Shame on the school for just not kicking the kid off the team, shows that the coaches and the school did not care about what happened, and it showed the character, or lack there of, of those who should have ended his HS career right there.

Ruin him? It's his fault for assaulting someone. This will not stop until there is zero tolerance for this garbage. Players, coaches and fans need to learn that this behavior is garbage and will not be tolerated!

I'd still like to know what was said to provoke the retaliation

What year is the boy that was suspended?

He missed 7 and the other kid missed 9.

Sorry but sports or no sports, one can't slug another in the face in front of everyone in the stadium with no ramifications.

I agree with what you are saying except for the legal action.....ending his season would have been enough of a punishment in my opinion...Iit really isn't necessary for the legal system to be involved in every aspect of human existence. Again...agree that such behavior has no place and can't go unpunished.....just disagree on who punishes and what the punishment should have been. Yes....a felony charge that could lead to serious jail time.....absurd and ridiculous
