Put me in the camp that thinks you could have Weyer, McNeil, or CVH as best player in the region and not be wrong.

Clyde, thanks for the input. Again everyone has their own opinions and that is great. I love to hear peoples thoughts. Makes for Great conversation.

With that being said:

I don't think CVH guards better than Sean. Sean can defend the post or a guard which makes him much more versatile. CVH is more known for face guarding with no concern for anyone else but one player. That is easy defense. I don't believe one on one CVH, Weyer, or Snapp could stop Sean. Sean is much bigger and stronger than CVH or Snapp. Guard him with a guard and he will post you up, guard him with a big and he will take you outside.

I do agree CVH probably has the best first step I have seen in the 9th as he is deadly from mid range. Very nice pull up of the dribble.

Sean finishes at the rim as good, probably better. Again, he is bigger and stronger taking it to the rim. Plays above the rim when needed. The only other one in this conversation that can play above the rim is Weyer.

I feel Weyer is a very good basketball player, but he would be last on this list with ball handling away from the basket. The other the all have solid handles.

Weyer obviously has the edge on size in this group.

McNeil is the best rebounder of the guards in this group. If I'm not mistaken he lead Coopers team in rebounding tis season. Not bad for a guard.

Snapp is a true scorer. Would love to see him with a better supporting cast. May never get to see just how good he is in high school due to him being face guarded every single night.

Again, all around player. Rebounding, posting, shooting the deep 3, getting to the rim, shooting percentage, assists (making his teammates better), ability to be versatile on the defensive end (guard big or small), ability to play outside or inside effectively, physical size, and athletic ability. Sean is the most well rounded player of the group.

Not knocking on any of the other players at all. I just feel like McNeil is a very good player and doesn't get the respect he deserves. I like CVH, Weyer, Snapp, and McNeil. They all are deserving of any attention they get. They have worked hard for everything they get.

Again, I enjoy the insight and respect the views of others. Not always are we all going to agree, but that's ok too.

867, anyone that follows 9th region ball knows Sean can play. So he isn't being disrespected. LEGIT!

867, one more item. While CCH does use Cole in a few games to do the face-guarding it's rare. His D is strong. He can guard Sean. It would be fun to watch.

Clyde

I agree. It would be fun to watch. We don't always get to see the best players go at each other. Most coaches don't allow their best players to guard the opposing teams best player for fear of foul trouble (good coaching). Thanks again Clyde for your input. I know you see a lot of games. I respect your thoughts.

....

My very early Top 5 players in the 9th for 2015-16 would be:

1. CVH

2. McNeil

3. Weyer

4. McClendon

5a. Snapp

5b. Goetz (I loved Goetz before it was cool, I'd like that noted)

As for teams, I think CovCath is a clear #1 , and I'd actually insert Cooper #2 at this point.

I am switching your 5a and 5b. Goetz is so much more than a scorer. He grabs those boards and you didn't even notice he was there.

Love you enthusiasm for McNeil. Very good player, but CVH and Snapp are better IMO.

Weyer is better than McNeil too.

I'm hearing there is a 7' soph who has shadowed cov cath and is at new cath today? Any truth to a potential impact player transferring in?

I've heard the same.

He will be at NewCath on Monday (May 4), shadowing with Ben Weyer. He is all of 7 foot.

Weyer is better than McNeil too.

Not on any day of the week. Weyer is a good player, but other than his size, (which he doesn't use) McNeil is better at every other aspect of the game.

Weyer will need to work on his outside game to compete at any next level. And I'm sure he will do that. He is a very nice high school player right now. I feel as if he will transition into a nice college player also.

Making an argument for your favorite player by tearing down another is a tired act we see all too often on this board.

Ben Weyer's outside game is pretty well defined for a 6'7" high school player. He hasn't had to exploit his size advantage playing along side Schulte and McDonald the last two seasons. Defensively, he is as good a shot blocker as we have seen in N Ky in a long time.

I dont know who will be th best player in college but for HS there is no doubt in my mind CVH is the best player in the 9th region. I wouldnt have traded him for any player in the 9th last year that includes Beetle. The kid just gets it done. McNeil is a nice player, excellent shooter but just doesnt make the big time plays that CVH makes.

Some of you cats must have much better basketball eyes than me to be so certain that one player is "clearly" better than the others. I see a lot of players who are very close in overall abilities.

The top 3 players in the 9th Weyer, McNeil, CVH are close in overall abilities but for my money CVH just has a better all-round game and just makes more big time plays. McNeil and Weyer might turn out to be better college players, time will tell, but for now I would start my team around CVH.

Not tearing down anyone. All these boys are very good high school players. Most of them will play college at some level. Time will tell which level. Weyer probably has the best build to play at a higher level. With that being said, he will not be playing inside at that level IMO. Thus he will need to improve his outside game. Right now IMO I believe McNeil and CVH are better perimeter players. The thread said 2016 9th region. Based on that if you made a list of ten items, rebounding, outside shooting, attacking the rim, defending the post, guarding on the perimeter, basketball IQ, physical strength, ability to play above the rim, assists (making his teammates better) passer. Then rate each players strengths on a scale from 1-10. I believe IMO that McNeil is the most well rounded player with the least amount of weaknesses. Not knocking on any other kid. My opinion! At the end of the day they are all solid players. McNeil, Weyer, CVH, Geotz, Snapp, etc. and we will have to wait until next season to see who is going to have a breakout season. Time will tell.
