May 1, 201511 yr If you got the money to do it, box the entire field and hope a longshot comes through. You'll make bank. It's sooooo expensive to box the entire field. I've been tempted to do this before but just was afraid to drop the cash.
May 1, 201511 yr El Kabeir has scratched. Calvin Borel was the jockey. I assume that means that we are going to have a 19 horse field. One alternate was already used to replace Stanford and the 2nd alternate also already scratched.

May 2, 201511 yr I'm big on Mubtaahij and Danzig Moon in my exactas, and I put a small across-the-board bet on both of them as well. There's a ton of early speed in this race, and I'm hoping that leads to my clunkers coming up late.

May 2, 201511 yr 1st American Pharoah 2nd Dortmund 3rd El Cabier (long shot but I trust Calvin Borel)
May 2, 201511 yr 1st American Pharoah 2nd Dortmund 3rd El Cabier (long shot but I trust Calvin Borel) Scratched yesterday.
May 2, 201511 yr Scratched yesterday. Great. Then I REALLY need American Pharaoh and Dortmund to win so I cover the loss I'm now going to take on El Cabier. :idunno:
May 2, 201511 yr So we went to Turfway for a little bit yesterday to get our Oaks and Derby plays in. One of my exactas is a 4-horse box 6-12-18-20. With the 12 scratching out, that means the 12 play gets switched to a different horse. From the way I understand it, they switch it to the favorite, but since I have Pharoah as part of it, does that mean it will switch the 12 to the second favorite (Dortmund)?
May 3, 201511 yr Great. Then I REALLY need American Pharaoh and Dortmund to win so I cover the loss I'm now going to take on El Cabier. :idunno: You don't lose money on a horse that was scratched. You get your money refunded.
May 3, 201511 yr You don't lose money on a horse that was scratched. You get your money refunded. You are right, UNLESS you bet it in Vegas on in a Futures Pool.
