Could the conspiracy be that Cal just didn't do what needed to be done? That he only had a plan A, no plan B? Could it be that he just got out coached? Could it be that the youth of this team rendered them a little less able to make the decisions they needed to when they hit a rough spot? Could it be that the experience of the other team helped them steady the course for themselves? Could it be that a team finally found a way to exploit the weaknesses of the Cats, had the game plan and personnel to do it?

 

I think it was how well Wisc responded to the 3 shot clock violations. They did a great job taking advantage of UK's mistakes at the end. Is that great coaching or just game smart Wisc players? I don't know but I think one or both had the most to contribute to the Wisc victory.

We're on this site so I respond to posts on this site and I assume statements made on this site are in response to posts made on this site.

 

Also, we have enough of a sample population that it is possible to extrapolate this site to the wider fan base. Except E KY, those fans are rabid.

UK should have won this game. They had a lead with 3 minutes left and let it go. Now, I will say the shot clock violation that the refs counted the basket for Wisconsin hurt and came at a big time, but UK lost this game. Someone mentioned before, they had the lead and became stagnant. Played not to lose instead of continuing to pound the ball inside to try and draw fouls or let KAT do his thing. If UK would have stuck to what they had done the entire second half, I feel very confident in saying that they would be playing tonight and not Wisconsin.

In one and done games, the best team DOES NOT always win. It is unfortunate, but UK can only blame themselves for not finishing down the stretch like they did all year. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Try again next year.

Also, I think every ref hates Cal. He always is on them and never lets things go. I think it's a personal problem between all of them, not a origanizational problem.

 

I doubt that every ref hates Cal, but his perception among officials is probably similar to the perception of him from the general public outside of the UK fan base. His personality is very polarizing.

Anyone hear the comment that Barkley made after the game about social media and why he is not on twitter. I cannot remember the quote but it was pretty funny. Someone post if they remember the quote.

Conspiracy? No, obviously. Is there a human element involved with some of these folks? Of course there is. Happens in all sports.

 

Does the NCAA care for John Calipari? I have no way of knowing; a lot of the powers that be are probably not too keen on Coach Cal for his outspoken ways, but it also a double-edged sword. People love to say that what he does is hurting collegiate athletics, I would argue he is the best thing going for college basketball. We think of college basketball as a big deal, but on the national stage it doesn't draw a lot of viewers. I was reading an article yesterday how these minor bowl games draw more viewers than a lot of these NCAA basketball tournament games. He has brought a level of intrigue beyond the casual viewer which is great for the sport.

Hell, there's probably more than a few on this site who were able to suppress their inner crazy and managed to avoid posting something similar. I've heard some interesting stuff out on the streets. I can't wait to go to the office here in a bit and see what those folks are saying.
