I was very impressed with Boyle tonight! Love the way they hustle and play.

47 free throw attempts?

It wouldn't be all that surprising for him to end up elsewhere now that NKU has changed coaches.

Ballard started fouling on nearly every possession when they were down 21 early in the 4th. I don't know the exact number, but I wouldn't be surprised if It was 20-25 4th qtr FTs as Ballard was trying to extend the game as long as possible

*edit - I just looked at the update thread, I don't know if pp92 reported every single play of the 4th, but he reported 24 FT attempts in the 4th qtr alone by Boyle. Like I said, Ballard was down big and went into fouling mode much earlier than we usually see in a game. If the pressure didn't force a turnover A foul came pretty quickly thereafter.

My thoughts as well...would love to hear how this happened.

No idea when the last time Owensboro made a final is but BG has never made it and I'm imagining that Calloway hasn't either. Not sure on Boyle County?

Only other time in state (2003,) Calloway County lost a first round game to Warren Central. Terry Birdsong was their coach then too; went to Graves County for seven years; now back at Calloway.

Owensboro's last time in the final was the last time they won it: 1980. They were in the final four in 1983, 1986 and 1992. Lost to the eventual champ each of those three years.

Boyle County was there in 1998, 1999, and 2006. This is their first year to win a game at state...and now it's two!

I guess this means Coach Renner will be back. I wonder if any other former Bruin players have talented basketballers available like Jerry Eaves and his son.

Saw where Jason Frakes tweeted that Trinity had beaten three of the 4 in the final 4....crazy.

David vs Goliath....... the sequel.. never expected this one...

The margin is a surprise. The outcome not so much.

Incredible stuff. Is Boyle County the new favorite? I know CovCath is still in the mix and BG was just there last year too, but some not as usual faces advancing. I would still have to go with Owensboro as the favorite with Boyle a close second. I just don't see how Cov Cath is still in the mix. Talk about overachieving. All coaching and system right there.

....

As many know, PP92 and I have become close, and for that reason, I've followed Boyle closely this year. Man, I couldn't be happier for PP92, the team, their fans, and especially another friend in that community that is battling and has to be loving the good news. So happy I will get to see them tomorrow night.

Congrats and good luck continuing the run. Such an unbelievable backcourt...two game-changers.

I haven't seen Ballard play in person. I was basing that opinion on having actually seen Boyle along with the results of 4 of Ballard's last 6 games - against CAL, Eastern, Manual and Johnson Central. Of course, the argument to the contrary is what they did to Trinity. Just too many sub-par performances of late.
