Not surprised CovCath won. However, I am surprised by the margin. Thought this would be a much better game

rebounds do not add up. I'm sure there is a reason, can you explain?

Probably team rebounds in there.

CVH joined the CCH 1000 point club.

Clyde did you get my PM?

Yessir.

Thanks.

Someone wrote on the prediction thread, "CC is not the same team as they were in the first mtachup earlier in the season", all while predicting a CC win.

First game was a 19 point game, guess I would agree, "not the same team" after this 21 point (could have easily been 30+) complete domination.

In the end doesn't matter if you win by 19, 21, or 1, "just win baby."

I missed the first quarter, did the Camels really play Man to man defense against Cov.Cath? I couldn't believe it when I started watching. Someone's not during their homework. Unbelievable.

I heard that Campbell County did not show up after the 1st quarter, and the women in the stands were going crazy that Bill Ray Cyrus was on the Campbell Bench.

From the Louisville Courier-Journal:

Boys Sweet 16 | VonHandorf leads CovCath past Campbell Co.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Only a sophomore but already with the experience of helping his team win a state title, Cole VonHandorf definitely looked Wednesday night like a player ready for the big stage of the Sweet 16.

VonHandorf scored 29 points and led Covington Catholic’s efficient effort in routing Campbell County 64-43 in the first round of the state tournament at Rupp Arena – the Colonels’ first step in the pursuit of another trophy.

“It’s very exciting for me,” said VonHandorf, who surpassed 1,000 career points during the game. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. … I stepped up as a leader and knew I had to do that for us to come out with a win.”

Covington Catholic (30-5) advanced to face the winner of the late Doss-Williamsburg game in Friday’s 1:30 p.m. quarterfinal.

VonHandorf, a 6-foot-1 guard who shapes up as one of the state’s best in the 2017 class, made 10 of 16 from the floor and 7 of 9 at the foul line. The Colonels moved him around against Campbell County’s zone, and he was effective attacking and drawing fouls all around the court.

From the Lexington Herald-Leader:

Boys' Sweet Sixteen: Defending champ Covington Catholic dispatches Campbell County

Too much Cole VonHandorf meant the Camels would not be getting over on Hump Day.

VonHandorf scored 29 points Wednesday to lead defending champion Covington Catholic to a 64-43 victory over Campbell County's Camels in the first round of the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys' State Basketball Tournament.

VonHandorf, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, hit 10 of 16 field goals, including two of three three-pointers, and went 7-for-9 at the free-throw line as the fifth-rated Colonels (30-5) cruised into Friday's quarterfinals.

"We lost a lot of seniors last year, so I knew I had to step up, along with my senior point guard Cooper" Theobald, said VonHandorf, who scored his 1,000th career point during the first half. "I knew we had to kind of control the game. And we came out early and we were clicking all together, passing it around, and then we were all making our shots. So they made it easy for me."

Campbell County, Brossart and Silver Grove joined the 10th Region in 1996-97. Scott and Calvary joined in 2005-06.

It was my pleasure to meet Andy Flood after the game tonight. Besides being one of my favorite players from Cov Cath he is such a nice and polite young man. I love the way he plays. High B-ball IQ, and makes plays that don't show up in the stats.

Best of luck Cov Cath the rest of the tourney . Think you have a real shot at a repeat.

Thanks to my Cov Cath friend for the programs and shirt. Really means alot to me.

Also Congrats to Campbell Co on a great season.

The crazies were in full force but we're kind of hohum to me. They just didn't do anything new and original. Same ole stuff. Don't get me wrong, would love to see that support for my team, but I left a little dissapointed. Was expecting a "show". They were out done by the Camel student section. They had a huge following tonight but absolutely did not cheer. Only when a basket was made. Maybe they were just glad to be there.

Oh and for the game, was it me or was that the quietest 29 points CVH has had. Couldn't believe he had that many. Nothing too crazy, he was just doin his job. And did it well at that. I guess that's they way he plays. Awesome hustle and sweet stroke.

Good luck the rest of the way Colonels!

Camels played with no heart, congrats to Cov Cath & Dre Jackson. One Of My Fav a Players To Watch.
