Covington Catholic 64 Campbell County 43 (Sweet 16 First Round)

Featured Replies

There is no bashing going on. Just explaining what went wrong with the Camels.

I don't remember my reply being directed at you, seeing as this is your first post in this thread.

Please reference the following posts in the CCh vs cc prediction posts......not saying they were bashing but ....

Numbers. 6, 14,29,30,31,36,40,55,82

Just sayin'

First time I have seen CC play.....number and 14, 15 were a handful. After the first quarter, CCH fronted and backed 14 but stil couldn't stop him from getting his points, and 15 seemed to lose some confident after a few misses.....he has a great shot....

Cc didn't have a third player step up to relieve some pressure and free up these two, so CCH could concentrate d on these two....IMHO

In two side notes......nice to see Tdyballgame and tdyballgame jr at the game from way across the floor.....however, I'm sorry he felt that he couldn't stand and cheer the colonels because he would disturb the guy directly behind him who read the paper all game.

It was also nice seeing paNDA in the bathroom.....but we won't comment on that other than to say that we both washed our hands.

Yeah, it's awful when fans predict their teams will win a game, isn't it? Come on man, THAT'S the excuse you're going to use?

75......no disrespect intended......I didn't read any bashing (admittedly I have only read about 2/3 of the posts) but what I did read was an explanation of why people thought CCH won and CC lost......similar to the explanations as to why they listed that CC would win and CCH would lose in the posts I listed.

So it can't be ok in one and then called "bashing" in this one just because the game had been played and one team lost.

Now, with that said......if i missed reading one that someone came out and actually "bashed" the Camels, well, then I'm not supporting that.....but I haven't seen it yet.

So saying "The Camels didn't show up" or "the Camels had no heart", that's not bashing? The respectable thing to say was that the Camels didn't have the same fire that CovCath had in this game. That would be a true and respectful statement. To say that these kids didn't show up and have no heart is ridiculous considering the amount of blood and sweat they poured out to make it to State. Post posters on here counted them out after their mid-season woes. Did the Camels play well after the 1st quarter, no, but that has nothing to do with their heart or effort.

Kings.....no argument here.......that one falls Into the third of the ones I hadn't seen....

Are there others? If it is just one person commentingthis way, I would have called them out instead of implying that everyone was bashing......not saying it was you. And I would have supported whomever called them out.

I'm 100% with you on the ridiculousness of comments like "no heart" and "didn't show up", and that is actually insulting to both teams that played last night. However, why not reply to those posts and ask those posters to expound or clarify (or defend their stance), instead of just firing off like a shotgun at everyone. Old Time didn't make those comments, so I'm not sure he deserves your frustration. Yes, those posts are bashing, they are ridiculous, and they are categorically false. Campbell County played very hard last night, didn't have enough scoring outside of Dre and Matt, and they struggled to get stops in the half-court or get back and defend in transition. It wasn't from a lack of effort, and it is insulting to the kids in purple to insinuate that. On that point we fully agree.

75, no, a fan picking their team to win is certainly what this joint is all about, but when you make firm and definitive statements, and then are wrong by a LOT, I think a little good-natured accountability should be expected.

MTG you are starting to think like me......

I have the names of a few very good psychiatrists I can supply you. It is best to "nip it in the bud" early.

We are both old and both played baseball, it was bound to happen.

I heard that Campbell County did not show up after the 1st quarter, and the women in the stands were going crazy that Bill Ray Cyrus was on the Campbell Bench.

Camels played with no heart, congrats to Cov Cath & Dre Jackson. One Of My Fav a Players To Watch.

Can someone please explain to me why there is so much Camel bashing going on??? Didn't play with heart, didn't show up. ...As far as making fun of a coach on the bench, show some class. How old are you, grow up.

Not to derail the thread even farther off course, but it appears both posters @CALL IT LIKE I KNOW and @HeGotGame are Campbell County posters...

Congrats to both teams, Campbell County & Covington Catholic. The Camels have back to back 10th region championships, which is certainly something to be proud of. This NKY poster was a bit disappointed to see two NKY teams meet in the 1st round, but such is life. Congrats to the Camels on a great season & kudos to Covington Catholic for taking care of business.

Oh, I never said these post were made by CovCath fans. They are made by Camel "supporters". That is the worst part of the whole thing.

Campbell County was just a different team last night than the one I saw in the 10th region tournament. I would agree they did not have the same "fire". I am not sure what the difference was, but they lacked the incredible intensity that they have had in the last 4 or 5 games. Their defensive intensity, which in my opinion was what made them tick in the post season (both offensively and defensively) was not in full force. Although zone defense was the RIGHT defensive scheme against CovCath, I wonder if they would have been better to play their aggressive man-to-man? This is what seemed to give them life at the end of the season and helped them to make a strong run.

Not second guessing the coaching staff. I am by no means a scholar or even a student of the game. Just a casual fan's observations. And I am a "dance with the one that brought ya" kinda guy.

I do not question the team's heart. I would think all of the teams that have made it this far have not done it on talent alone. My guess is that every team that makes it this far has a great deal of heart. But in the end they are just a bunch of young kids that have great games, and not so great games. Campbell had a not so great game on many fronts.

Hats off to CovCath for playing a great game.

Have a feeling I know who you are talking about and he is the best. One of CCH finest.

Also glad you mentioned Andy Flood. Have had a chance to talk to him a few times this season and he indeed a great kid.

Covcath is really rolling right now.

I have kept up with Andy all season and was thrilled to finally meet him. Agree on Cov Cath rolling right now. I love to watch them play.

Let me qualify my following reply with this. Camels had a nice year and won the 10th region tourney. They represented themselves and the Camel community as you would hope your boys would. They did everything they were capable of doing and , in the end, that's all you can really ask so hats off to them.

With that said, they simply are at a lower level than many teams in the 9th this year. Yesterday was not a surprise to me. There's nothing on the resume this year for the Camels to have one think that they were a legit threat to the Colonels yesterday. I'd say the same thing had many other 9 region teams were at Rupp instead of the Colonels.

You say they lacked the intensity they had the last few games. I'd say it wasn't intensity. I'd say it was the fact they played much lesser teams.

Again, this is not a personal attack of any member of the Camel team or staff.

Sometimes it's just good to state the facts.

I don't remember my reply being directed at you, seeing as this is your first post in this thread.

I never said you did, I was just saying that they (not me) were just discussing what made the camels lose so badly.
