Owensboro 55 Collins 38 (Sweet 16 First Round)

Featured Replies

Poor Collins just out gunned in every aspect of the game. Friday will be interesting bc Owensboro really outsizes everyone but if the guard play is tested I think they have a tough day with hopkinsville and that style of play.

I love the way he moves and plays with his size. He moves better than it would appear when you see him. Very skilled in the paint and can pass the ball well also.

Kind of reminds you of a HS version of Z-Bo.

Truth. Great comparison.

I'm not sure there's anyone in the tournament who can stop Justin Miller one on one.

I think that he is very underated. It seems that Holman gets all the headlines, but I think that Miller is the most important player on the OHS roster.

He is like the high school version of Okafor. If he catches the ball on the blocks he's likely going to score or get fouled.

I hate that Collins couldn't hit the shots today they had been hitting all year long, but I'm sure nerves played a factor with their first ever trip to Rupp. They had no answer for Owensboro's size anyway.

This year's senior class should be very proud of everything they accomplished. They went 96-32 in 4 seasons with 3 district championships, a regional runner-up and regional championship. Collins has some fantastic young men in their program that will no doubt be successful outside of basketball. As for next year, the future looks bright with Test and Clarkson back as well as Turner coming back from injury. Collins had quite a few freshman see some playing time today off of a freshman team that went undefeated. A few of them even hit some three's late. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Coach Gaither and the Titans at Rupp.

Always tough to watch a "new" team come to Rupp Arena and have just an awful day. Owensboro had a lot to do with that, but I really felt for Collins. I did appreciate the sportsmanship of the Titans' #23 (sorry; forgot his name already.) Seemed like a really nice kid.

How deep does Owensboro go, and how big are they?

Huge team....Miler is 6'7 270 and very efficient in the paint. Artic Holman is 6'9 200 with guard skills. They are a match up problem for most teams. Hop town has the athletes to possibly knock em off.

Owensboro poses problems for most every team in this tourney because of Holman (6'9) and Miller (6'7). One of the few front court duos that I'd POSSIBLY take over Newcath's McDonald and Weyer..and those two are REALLY good.

Wasn't impressed with their guards when I saw them at the KOB but I believe they were without their starting PG when I saw them.

Owensboro was impressive. Their two bigs will be tough to handle...one big and athletic, one big and a freight train. They will cause match-up problems for anyone.

Alot of shots contested or blocked by OHS and Collins seemed to rush shots before Miller or Holman jumped at them. Owensboro just the all-around better team. As previously stated, Owensboro was horrid at the 3, so it could have been worse. Miller and Holman are unstoppable unless fouls aren't called. Owensboro went to the zone in the 2nd half and were amazing at it - great speed by OHS' guards.

Interesting game coming up with Hoptown. Hoptown beat Apollo by 2, while Owensboro beat them 2 out of 3. This should be a good matchup, but I think Hoptown will be fouling alot to keep the ball out of Miller and Holman's hands. Speed on both teams. Who guards Matlock for Hoptown? Should be a good one. I expect the winner to be playing for all of the marbles.
