Has HC rendered the All-A meaningless?

Only once in the last 5 years did a Final Four All-A team fail to make it to KHSAA Regionals. 8 KHSAA Regional Championships + 3 more as KHSAA Regional Runner-ups.

and oh yea - out of the 20 "slots" available in the ALL-A Final Four the last 5 years, only 11 different teams have made it. Owensboro Cath - 5 appearances, NCC 4 appearances, Brossart and Gallatin 2 each.

Don't tell me the All-A is a tournament for the little guy who can't compete. Don't tell me small schools need the All-A to experience something they may not get to do.

The All-A is not doing what is what designed to do. Fix it, get rid of it, or go to KHSAA classes.

I guess it's how you look at it. You see 11 spots (actually 13) filled by four different teams, I see 7 spots filled by seven different schools, including 3 All-A State Champions (Holy Cross, Glasgow, Walton-Verona). Try to tell those schools it's not a special tournament/event.

Girls athletics is a little different than boys, in that a few consecutive dominant classes can establish quite a run (NCC comes to mind). And as stated previously, many of the schools who succeed regularly in the All A make that tournament a priority. It's not an accident they are successful in that tournament.

No doubt the event has expanded beyond it's initial implementation ... change and evolution can be good. However, I personally witnessed two, truly small schools in the 10th this year (Augusta on the boys side, Bracken Co on the girls side) experience a All A Regional championship, and those kids will tell stories for years to come about that journey. Did both have a chance to win the end-of-season regional? Sure, but it would have been exceptional .. movie worthy.

In the 10th, when you're regularly competing against the Masons/Campbells/Montgomerys/Clarks/Harrisons/Scotts, it's extremely difficult to get to Rupp/Diddle.

Debate away my friend. You hate the private schools. You want your young athlete to experience the success of a title. Here is your solution: Adjust the enrollment so only your team is eligible to participate. They can then schedule a time for the trophy presentation. I bet you can have it arranged so your child is named MVP!

Any other facts missed here?

Wow - you are way, way off point on what the argument is and the motivation behind it.

First bold...And the bolded is fun and I'm right there with you! Love it!

Second bold...It's supposed to be difficult. It's the state championship and the state of KY only crowns 1 winner. It's not supposed to be easy to get there. Only 16 of 300 plus get there! And I think only 30 different teams (not even sure if it's that many, did that research last year) have ever won it. It's not easy. It's made to be an elite accomplishment if you do.

And all 3 won their KHSAA Regional that same year. So if the purpose of the All-A is to give smaller schools a chance to compete, and all 3 of these teams won their KHSAA Region and went to the Sweet 16, then why do we have the All-A? Why are only small schools allowed a chance at 2 titles? Shouldn't all kids have the same equal chance?

Only 31 different teams have won a state championship since 1920. And some of those schools don't exist any longer. It's not easy to win. It's supposed to be that way.

Fine. U want a deep dive? Let's go.

So you expanded your 4 teams to 6 teams. So I say the same thing to you again, your saying since 6 schools out of how many who compete in the All are able to sometimes compete with the big boys shows that all small schools can compete because of 6 schools? 6 schools out of all the schools who compete in the All is your argument? Yeah makes sense....

Shouldn't all schools have the same equal chance of putting a winning team together? With your argument I guess we need to make every school in Ky have right around the same population to make it fair for everyone.

... then why do we have the All-A? ...

WE don't have anything. The All A people host this tournament. I'm sure the A schools eligible can opt out if they like. If someone wants to go out and put together another tournament for just the BIGGER schools, they could also do that if they so choose, and if the schools are interested in it.

First bold...And the bolded is fun and I'm right there with you! Love it!

Which it is still an elite accomplishment. I have no idea why you all continue to act like the All A takes anything away from the KHSAA State Championship. If people say it is equal then I would agree with you all, however people do not. So once again it makes no sense for adults who it doesn't effect at all to make sure a big deal out of it.

Looks like it's pretty difficult for several teams to ever win the 10th region.

It doesn't pain me at all. As far as not fair for the larger schools, that's not really my beef either. I just use that to show you that there are plenty of schools (regardless of size) that can't compete either. So why do only a certain few get a second opportunity?

As for the schools that you are asking about with only 100 boys...well if that's a public school...those 100 boys are much different than the 100 boys that chose to go to the private school. Do you disagree with that? I'm not trying to make this a public vs private debate. I'm saying it could be part of the solution...along with other solutions I proposed in this and other discussions.

Which I honestly get what you are saying because out of the list of teams who have won the All A and then won their region half of them have been private schools. Which as you mentioned is a whole other debate too. So I do get what you are saying in terms of public/private stuff.

Which it is still an elite accomplishment. I have no idea why you all continue to act like the All A takes anything away from the KHSAA State Championship. They are just trying to make something out of nothing. Let's you and I go out and try to get the King of the Bluegrass in Louisville to stop hosting their tournament each year, or any of the bigger tournaments. This is no different. It's a statewide tournament that is not ran by the KHSAA. The smaller schools are not forced to be in it, as they are not forced to be in the KHSAA end of season tournament either. These fellas also want Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties to break away from Kentucky and become part of Ohio. Lol

Looks like it's pretty difficult for several teams to ever win the 10th region.

I'm not saying it takes anything away from the KHSAA.
