Here it is: 7th Region Coach of the Year and 1st year CAL coach Jana Costner's contract has not been renewed. Big time news.

Why was the Coach of the Year not renewed? Admittedly, there were rumors early on about some unidentified issues, which seemed hard to believe with how well they were playing.

Hopkinsville is open.

Rick Barnes has withdrawn his name from consideration for any of these jobs. Sounds like the former UT coach is going to UT.

Too bad. Nice lady, did a very good job with her team, very sad. It must be hard to please folks there, as the 2015-16 season will make it three coaches in three years. It will be interesting to see what type of interest there is in this job now. Year in and year out, this is one of the toughest districts in the state.

Any idea on why Retro?

Plus the word on the street is the roster will become thinner....

Anyone know why she was not retained beyond innuendo? I still find it hard to believe that the players were disgruntled when they worked so hard and put such a nice product on the floor - great record, big wins (including over SHA), made regional - if players hate a coach, they do not generally 'produce' on the floor.

Derby, I have no insights as to why, and was very much surprised at it happening. But then, last year I was surprised when CAL dumped their coach after what seemed to be an overachieving season. And now it's happening again to another coach. Crazy stuff. Advice: Whoever the next coach is, enter cautiously with your eyes wide open. One thing I did hear during the season - from a Louisville area coach - was that at least one of their middle school players was being approached by another area private school, which was not shocking to learn.

With the firing of the Courier-Journal 7th region Coach of the Year, who is in line to get the Christian Academy job? Will big name coaches tread lightly considering how the last 2 coaches were ousted? They had 2 guys that were assistant coaches. One was a heavy set guy from ???...the other was a former assistant from Iroquois. Any word on this job?

I just heard that Coach Arnold at Augusta resigned. Any truth to this?
