Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings has apologized for a postgame incident Thursday night in which he was caught on camera berating Commodores player Wade Baldwin IV profanely, at one point saying, "I'm going to (BGP Violation) kill you."

Stallings told ESPN "he did not mean his words literally" when confronting Baldwin, who had taunted a Tennessee player in the postgame handshake line.

"I handled it completely inappropriately and I apologized to Wade -- and I need to apologize to our fans and the Vanderbilt administration," the longtime coach told ESPN. "Having said that, and it may seem as though I'm trying to rationalize my behavior, sportsmanship will continue to be a high priority. I did not mean it in the literal sense and I've never touched a player in all my years as a coach. That's not me. I will learn from this and handle this situation differently in the future."

So I love the part that Stallings won't accept any poor sportsmanship by his players. The way he handles it needs just a little work.

This can't be good for his future recruiting efforts. I know I wouldn't want a kid of mine playing for him if he explodes like that so easily. I could only imagine what his practices are like. Too much Bob Knight and Billy Clyde comparsion for my taste. That old school discipline stuff doesn't fly nowadays. I think what was really bad, besides his saying "kill", was his shoving the player. That's a no-no IMO.

Maybe Knott Central's Justice needs to reevaluate his decision to play at Vandy.

Only thing Stallings did wrong was not wait until he got into the locker room to light him up. But he wanted him to apologize. It appears this was not the first time Baldwin has shown disrespect and Stallings had corrected him.

I have no problem with him exploding like that and being as mad as he was. That shows he truly cares about teaching these kids how to do things the right way. Now he needs to be more careful on what he says when he is that mad though, and as you said keep his hands off. However I have no problem with him being as upset as he was. Coaches need to show that won't be tolerated. He shows he truly means it when he says he wants to do things the right way, and just not say it like some coaches do.

:lol2: What a moron.

Side note: it sure is nice to see the dumpster-fire that Tyndall's first (and hopefully last) season at Tennessee has become.

Do you know Donnie Tyndall?

Nope.

Just comes across as a giant slime ball.

You are free to hammer him if you choose and I understand the scrutiny. I do know him personally and I have a different opinion.

I don't know what you have against the guy. He's a friend of one of my closest friends, seems like a good guy to me.
