Kevin Stallings: I handled it wrong

Featured Replies

Nope.

Just comes across as a giant slime ball.

Why do you have to go there, this thread isn't even about him.

Bad P.R. but it's nothing.

This isn't a thread about him. Stallings seems like a tool and seems to be very unlikable.

No problem with it, might want to watch threatening an 18-21 year old with murder though.

I agree though, Stallings, huge tool.

The only thing wrong was his use of profanity. His mistake was lighting him up on the court, he should have waited to get back to the locker room. Loudly chastising the player for what he did without the profanity and the use of the word kill? NO PROBLEM with that what so ever.

I have lit up kids in the locker room for inappropriate behavior on the court...and done it MUCH more loudly than Stallings did here. Just didn't cuss and threaten to kill. Kids got the point too. I don't get that way very often and it takes a LOT for me to get that riled up, but when I do, you know you have really stepped in it and done something to deserve it.

100% agree about Stallings.

I do think he's a good coach though.

Seems that this young man has had a history of unacceptable poor sportsmanship. Thought his public defense of Stallings today displayed surprising class and maturity. Might save him from getting "Killed" by disciplinary suicides this week! In today's world of smart phones and social media, coaches have a higher level of public scrutiny than previous generations of coaches. I like to sit court side and listen to the interplay between coaches and referees, coaches and players, or even players, it often would make the faint of heart blush.

Such a non issue. It's a joke it was a headline story on sportscenter.

It was a non issue when Sean Woods hammered a player at Rupp Arena, as well, and he was the lead story on ESPN.

UC quit recruiting Bladwin because of his on court antics. Not surprised it is still an issue...

Just saw the ESPN video again. Saw no inappropriate contact and saw a coach frustrated at trying to communicate a good sportsmanship message that obviously had not been learned before despite how many times the sermon had been preached. Congrats to a great institution ( Vanderbilt) tring to take this out of the public forum and handle it internally.....with a thanks Coach "we never want our institution to be represented by that players actions. That is not what we are, nor aspire to ever be."

Congrats to the young man trying to maturely get out in front of this with his response.
