Active Region Tournament Streaks

The Lexcath district usually keeps a really good team out of the region tournament as well.

In the 2nd, the size of Henderson County is a big factor too They are so much larger than Union County or Webster County (& Providence before that.)

And with that said, if there isn't a change to 3 team districts, I do not believe Henderson County will ever be the third worse team in that district. I am not a fan of 3 teams districts and feel like it is unfair how they get a bye every year to the region.

I'd like to know how many years Holy Cross has had a top 5 9th region team but not made it to the region tournament because of being in the same district as Holmes and Covcath.

Hasn't Holmes made the 9th Region every year since before 2001? It is Holmes and CovCath from the 35th every year other than the one year Beechwood beat CovCath isn't it? When was the last time NCC missed the Regional?

Holmes was knocked out by Holy Cross in the first round of the Disrrict in 2004.

NCC didn't make it to the Regional in 2008 they were knocked out by Highlands in the first round via the blind draw.

Totally agree Walter and as an HC fan this is very frustrating, but it is what it is. It was nice when Holmes went to the old 35th District from 1988 to 1996. In that span HC was region runner up twice and won the regional twice. Of course in the big District realignment of 1997 Holmes was put back in with CCH and HC in the new 35 th District and HC has struggled since then.

Fair point, but I do like the fact that the KHSAA requires three team districts to seed, so in a sense the #1 seed earned their way in during the regular season.

But...I too hate three team districts!

Marshall county's is in jeopardy this year.

Interestingly enough, though, if Marshall's streak ends that also ends another long streak, as Murray High hasn't been to the region tournament since 2001.

In the 10th, Mason would have been the obvious most likely to have a long streak. They are a top 5 team in the region almost every year (typically one of the top two or three), and often a top 20 team in the state. They are also in a district with three very small schools who aren't historically strong teams. They were struck by the blind draw and the Brent Bach the last 2 years though.

Harrison Co would have been the second most likely, but they also have been hit with the blind draw.

Based on the history of the schools in the 40th, it would seem the least likely to have a team with a long run, but Bourbon and Paris have both been historically down since entering the district.

The 37th is tough because there are 3 schools that are competitive most years.

Looking at the 15th region, Belfry has definitely benefitted from a 3 team district (Belfry, Pike Cent, Phelps).

That they have. And now that it is a four-team district (Lawrence County) they may well miss out on the region.

Madison Central will make the region until the cows come home coming out of the 44th

You're correct. Hard to believe Murray hasn't been in 14 years. They have the team to compete in the regional if they get by Marshall.

Ashland is going to the Regional Tourn. for the 24th straight year according to their radio.
