Seton Hall player drops elbow on Villanova player

Sterling Gibbs ejected after forearm to head of Villanova?s Ryan Arcidiacono in ugly loss for Seton Hall (VIDEO) | CollegeBasketballTalk

Seton Hall guard Sterling Gibbs delivered a forearm to the head of Villanova guard Ryan Arcidiacono during an ugly road loss on Monday night. The play looks awfully dirty and Gibbs was assessed a flagrant 2 on the play with 4:38 left in the second half and the Pirates losing on the road, 71-45. No. 6 Villanova finished the game with an 80-54 win while Gibbs was ejected.

WOW! That was UGLY!

Uncalled for. I'm coaching - the kid sits for a lot longer than the rules require.

His coach says Gibbs is a high character guy. I say he is prepping us for a brief suspension.

From what I know Gibbs is a really good dude. While out of character, he still needs to sit at least 2 games. It was without question a very dirty action...

Gibbs very apologetic on twitter. Apologized to his friends, family and most importantly to the player he hit. I respect how he has handled it - sounds sincere. The Villanova player was very gracious as well. Said things happen in the heat of action and accepted the apology. Both sides handling it very well. I say suspend Gibbs for a game or two and move on.

Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard is a Bowling Green High School graduate(c/o 93) so I'll likely stand by whatever he does or doesn't do with Gibbs. :D

...

Arch is a great dude for Villanova....hate to see it happen to anyone, of course, but especially to a guy that is universally considered a great guy.

Gibbs' tweets on the subject have been about as solid on the issue as they could have been. Humble. Apologetic. Addresses Arch by name in them in a way that I thought appeared genuine. I know nothing about Gibbs, but I'm inclined to think the young man is genuinely remorseful.

Since I have sinned I shall refrain from stone tossing.

Seton Hall has suspended him for two games.

Wonder if he knows Tu Holloway or Mark Lyons formerly of Xavier?

I don't remember those two having an egregious cheap shot.
