I'm interested to see how that sophomore class at Bracken develops these next two years. When they were 8th graders, a guy I used to work with told me that if they are ever going to win the 10th region, that group's junior or senior year would be the best opportunity.

Crawford is elite & Hamilton has continued to get better & better this year. Those 2 are going to be a fine 1-2 punch in the next 2 years. The development of the other kids will be key for Bracken County.

Funny you mention that...I've heard another really good sophomore in the 10th region might be transferring IN because of that sophomore class and the reason I stated above :idunno:

 

I asked the guy 2 years ago when he said that "if they're that good, how long before they transfer out?"

 

His response "Too many ties with the families in the Bracken system for that to happen."

It'll be very interesting to see how this plays out. We all should grab some popcorn from the Fieldhouse and just sit back and watch how it all unfolds. :popcorn:

 

But I do agree with you about that being a very good sophomore class, Ive been watching them play since the AAU days in the 3rd grade. Also Goldie says GRC's future is very bright so it should be some good basketball.

My point is that any team can be beaten on a give night and I believe that teams 2-6 can do that.

They didn't play Mason in regular season either which is a surprise.

Great recap as always RP. Although Mason has established themselves as the favorite throughout the course of the year this year's Regional tournament will be a "dogfight" and the Dog that "wants it most" will prevail. The watchword for the 10th this year is "parity"

If I recall correctly Mason and GRC had examples of this on several occasions. 2007 when Darius Miller was a junior and got robbed in regional final due to an over and back violation that was not called which allowed GRC to win.

 

Then in 2010 when GRC was the superior team that year and Mason upset them in the regional finals and went on to the Final Four.

 

All of which were some of the best 10th Region games I have ever witnessed and possibly ever will witness.

Agree but #1 is the easiest to rank because there is such a wide difference between Mason and 2-10

 

Don't think there is that wide of a difference between 1 and 2-6....any given night.....

 

No offense Goldie, but Mason's average margin of victory over the 12 10th region teams they have played is 17 points. Yes I know this is an average between all the teams, but 17 is a wide difference to me. IMO: Mason will the 10th region by double digits.

Not good examples at all. Look at what we were discussing. The wide difference between the ranking of the #1 and 2-6. The first example you gave either team had high talent and could win, not what we discusssing. And why go back 4-8 years for an example?????Last year was the logical choice. One that most members would remember. Why I used it to prove the point I was making of on any given night a team could be beaten.

But many people didn't consider Augusta to be that much of an underdog and we all knew how Brent Bach reacts when it's Mason County across the jersey. He should have beaten them 3 years in a row. Plus last year they gave MoCo all they wanted and then some in the Regional Semi-Final game. Augusta had plenty of talent and one heckuva coach which is why they won 2 of the 3 years.

 

But another game that might be more on the level you're speaking would be the Pendleton Co-Mason Co region semi-final game.
