Ah yes, the Mafia. Legitimate question, and I am not trying to pick a fight. HHS has had a remarkable run with Dale Mueller and by all accounts, they hit the jackpot with Brian Weinrich. Clearly, the program is as strong as it's ever been. But, what was the climate like during Jack Eicher's last years or toward the end of Duffy's run? Maybe CCH is off the charts horrible, I don't know. But I wonder, would things in Ft. Thomas be much different If there were struggles? I know it's hard to envision because of the 20 year run and awesome history of the program. But, I'd love to hear about how it was the last time there was a stumble.

They do the same thing every time they stumble. They get up, dust themselves off, and continue to work harder to achieve their goal. What would you expect them to do?

JB - I have no doubt that that's exactly what the coaches and players did, just like they do every year in Park Hills. I was referring to the whole Mafia thing - wondering how the fan base in Ft Thomas reacted the last time there was a stumble (which I know is a relative term). Like I said originally, maybe CCH fans/boosters are that awful, but were the HHS fans silent in Eicher's last days or during whatever was going on with Duffy? Maybe they were, just asking the question. The CCH fan base takes a ton of shots from Ft. Thomas. Maybe the Ft. Thomas folks are just that much better. Oh well.

...and I am also well aware that some geniuses on the CCH side take shots at Ft. Thomas...

I think everyone should know that Eddie is receiving a very warm welcome from CCH. I think he is a great fit and cov cath will be lucky to have him for however long he is there. I grew up with Eddie and I went to cov cath. We are happy that he is now a colonel. His job will be simple. Make the program his own and beat highlands.

Learn where they keep the switch to turn on the lights!

The only thing I would say to him is to keep things in perspective and try not get bogged down with a lot of the whispers that may swirl around the program. Keep family and faith at the forefront and everything else will take care of itself. Best wishes Coach Eviston as you embark on this new journey.

How about each of us offers him support instead. Young, energetic, proven, knowledgeable, experienced...Let's learn from him instead.

Highland does have its own secret society.

 

Restore respect to the program. It's a two way street with the young men. Earn it from the players (can not demand it) and give them the respect as well.

 

Figure out a role for Ted Edgington. Even if it only on game day. These young men respect and love him more then any coach they have had in any sport at any level.

 

Continue to build on the middle school and grade school teams. They are the pipeline.

 

Have fun, its a game and these are boys. Do it right and success will be upon you and they program. In the end you have been entrusted turn our boys into Christian Men and leaders in our community.
