  1. There is no Park Hills Mafia. Highland does have its own secret society. Restore respect to the program. It's a two way street with the young men. Earn it from the players (can not demand it) and give them the respect as well. Figure out a role for Ted Edgington. Even if it only on game day. These young men respect and love him more then any coach they have had in any sport at any level. Continue to build on the middle school and grade school teams. They are the pipeline. Have fun, its a game and these are boys. Do it right and success will be upon you and they program. In the end you have been entrusted turn our boys into Christian Men and leaders in our community.
  2. Competing in two years, in the big show within four years.
  3. Colonels Where Blue.....Tell me where are am wrong. Covington Catholic had better be a better school then the others, why else would I sent me kid there paying tuition? Considering what I got there, what my family got their, what my kids are getting there, its worth the HUGE sacrifice we all have made. My family has graduated over 20 from Covington Catholic and over 10 from Notre Dame. Like their classmates, all are contributing members of their communities and "give back" to their communities and their school. I will be happy to review the long term success of our graduates with you and any others who wish to compare notes.
  4. Mike Woolf (sp?) was good, but not top of the list. Ted Edington was good, but again not top. Both could be top of the list of the best "person", but not the best players. My picks are (top 10 but not in order) 1. Rick Hornsby (late 1960's) Louisville 2. Rick Thompson (early 1970's) ?? 3. Brian Williams (early 1990's) Columbia 4. Artie Steinmetz (mid 1990's) Michigan State / University of Kentucky 5. David Legeay (late 1980's) Vanderbilt 6. Tim Schulte (early 1980's) Michigan 7. Todd Schulte (early 1980's) Michigan 8. Greg Lukie (sp??) (late 1980's) High School Drop Out (one of a rare few at CCH) 9. Barry Jones (early 1990's) Kentucky 10. Todd "Boy" George (late 1980's) Kentucky
  5. You are nuts. I will give a great example.......The Dean of the University of Kentucky Law School was speaking to UK juniors and seniors about applying to UK School of Law and how important it was to get good experience by the way of a job. The Dean went on to say how important a resume is in the process. A young man raised his hand and asked about listing our a High School on a resume and she said "No need to list a high school unless you went to Louisville St. Xavier, Covington Catholic, or Notre Dame, Simply put these school built young men and women of high character and high ability to succeed in life. These High Schools educate young men and women spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. In fairness they do not take trouble makers and drop out rates are basically non existent. I will be happy to compare academic success (and life long success) of our graduates with any other school in the Commonwealth. Is that being overly flattering, no its the fact. If I had to sent my son to a public school, I would work hard to get him to HHS, BWHS, or WVHS in Northern Kentucky.
  6. The next coach for the Covington Catholic Football team will be ______________________. This coach is an proven winner. He has and will continue to develop young men by embracing the gospel message of Jesus Christ in order to educate young men spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. The program is in good hands and will excel!
  7. Someone asked why go to Covington Catholic if you are going to be sweezed out of basketball? How about the # 1 education in Northern Kentucky. No offense to HHS, BW, WV but Covington Catholic is better. Look at the ACT, SAT, and graduation rate. Let's not forget these are STUDENT athletes.
  8. Mueller was not that good at Sycamore. His legacy would improve with another great championship run. Bernie Berre (so) built Beechwood & Wyoming. Needs more.
  9. Old thread but I can not help but comment. I played with Paul Hlandon (sp) and he was high on his own list and the media. In reality he was an awful team player who care only about himself. He did not start until his senior year after Donnie Bieger graduated. I wish Paul had Donnie's heart. Best QB was Rick Thompson (early 70's).
  10. Covington Catholic has never had one of those Freshmen. I don't know about the Bluebirds, little Colonels, or those Boone County teams. Class A schools are different as they simply need them due to enrollment.
  11. Dale Mueller was a great Coach, no doubt about it, but Highlands is the Goliath. He took over a powerhouse and made it better.
  12. 1. Crable 2. Woolfe 3. Edgington 4. Mueller 5. Someone we have never heard of from out of the area.
  13. Sweeperboy you and your classmates can sweep the floors at CCH anytime you need a few bucks.
  14. Top Ten Reason (not in order) # 1 - Get along with Bob Rowe. # 2 - Actually teach a class, class time is not film time. # 3 - Treat the young men with respect and you will get respect in return. # 4 - Don't hire your dad as an assistant. # 5 - A Power Offense (strong running game) can win games (ask the NFL's Seahawks). # 6 - Beat Highlands once in a while, never get beat by Beechwood or any team from Boone County. # 7 - Stop scheduling GCL South teams. # 8 - Play the back-ups when you are up or down at the end of the game (they deserve playing time). # 9 - Freshman should NEVER play ahead of a upperclassmen - It fact freshman should NEVER dress varsity, you don't need them by the numbers or the talent. # 10 - Stop applying at every job opening in Northern Kentucky (Dixie 2013, Ryle 2014, Boone 2015).
