June 15, 201511 yr Well...that was interesting. This season was more predictable than others. Are we caught up to the books now?
June 15, 201511 yr Pretty much. With lots of differences. The Sansa story arc is totally off the reservation. What happened with Stannis is different. Tyrion and Dani have yet to meet in he books. What happened to Arya did happen in the books but in a totally different way.
June 15, 201511 yr Book readers, highlight below.... There's some stuff going around that Jon is actually dead in the show at least. There's absolutely no way they can have that happen if he's back for Winds of Winter, right? Good thing Melissandra got back to the Wall just in time. My theory is that Jon had to die so he could be done with the Night's Watch, and will come back and lead an army, the Wildlings, and retake Winterfell and the North.
June 15, 201511 yr I won't read through this because I don't want to ruin anything for me. We just started watching Season One this past week and I thoroughly enjoy it so far.
June 15, 201511 yr Book readers, highlight below.... SPOILERS OMITTED HERE I've read some of what your talking about and I agree...{time for the book readers to highlight}The show runners have been pretty adamant that Lady Stoneheart is not going to show up in the series and yet they had a couple of episodes showing how Dondarian was resurrected by the Lord of Light. Why have that in there if it wasn't going to play some other role later? I think the show runners may just be playing it cute, yes Jon Snow is dead but someone else will come back in his place. I'm also wondering where they are going with Theon and Sansa. In the books Theon escapes from Ramsey but in an excerpt from the next book he is prisoner of Stannis. If Stannis is dead that's not happening. Could it be that now that Sansa knows that her younger brothers are alive she and Theon will travel north, join up with the "new" Jon Snow and go on a quest to rebuild the Stark Family?...{spoilers over}
June 15, 201511 yr Is Stannis dead? The show has been all about violence and death, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't show his death if it actually happened. So cliffhangers we have are: Dany and the new Dorthraki army? Stannis: Alive or dead? Arya? Sansa and Theon? Jon Snow? Myrcella: Alive or dead? This was the most shocking part of the show to me. Did not see that coming at all.
June 15, 201511 yr Jon Snow has to come back I don't see any other way this story can work. So few "good guys" .
June 15, 201511 yr Is Stannis dead? The show has been all about violence and death, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't show his death if it actually happened. So cliffhangers we have are: Dany and the new Dorthraki army? Is it a new army or the ones that deserted her after Kal Drogo died but before the dragons were born? Stannis: Alive or dead? I'm like you, the show has never been squeamish about showing heads roll, why not show this one. And again divergent from the books. Arya? Sansa and Theon? Jon Snow? Myrcella: Alive or dead? This was the most shocking part of the show to me. Did not see that coming at all. This surprised me as well, that whole story line has played very differently from the books. I was kind of surprised that we didn't get a Littlefinger appearance. I though that he migh show up as Winterfell as Sansa was trying to get away. Still curious about his real motives after telling Cersi where she was. And speaking of Cersi anyone distraught over her "atonement"? How long before the season premier? Will the next book come out before? If so can it really be used as a predictor since they've diverged from the story so much.
June 15, 201511 yr Author Well...that was interesting. This season was more predictable than others. Are we caught up to the books now? We're caught up and passed in most plots. Also strayed away on some that we have no idea whats going on.
June 16, 201511 yr I can't really know this since we are caught up to his plot in the books but I 100% guarantee Jon Snow will be back. Don't believe anything the showrunners or Kit Harington are currently saying. The Red Witch showed up there for a reason.
June 16, 201511 yr I think they are playing coy with him "being dead". Although Kit Harrington confirmed he won't return, he's dead, blah blah blah, I just don't see how that can be possible given the point in the book, and show. I know fan theories are just that....theories, but "Fire and Ice" are named for a reason, and there's a lot of story detail that basically gives Jon a lot more going forward. I don't see how they can legit kill him off permanently. IMO The Red Witch seen that Stannis was in fact not the new king and that Jon was the correct path, why else would she leave all of a sudden. I don't believe Stannis is dead or they would have shown it...Name one meaningful character they've killed off screen during the show's five seasons. IF Jon is resurrected I believe he travels towards Winterfell and that's when the Boltons are defeated. He joins Stannis at that point not knowing his army is dead. That's the common denominator IMO. Stannis wants them dead, Brienne wants to save Sansa, and Jon also wants to defeated the Boltons as well to save his sister (learned by Brienne). Definitely be interesting to see the Theon, Stannis storyline if Stannis is indeed alive.
June 16, 201511 yr The whole Northern story loses all interesting aspects if Jon Snow doesn't return. It just isn't possible.
June 16, 201511 yr Just binged the whole season the past few days. I think that is the best way to watch it. Only negative is not able to read this thread.
June 17, 201511 yr The Lannister's now have the heir to Dorne in their possession. Jon Snow will be making his way back in some form or fashion. I think we are seeing the whole R + L= J play out. A little King's Blood flowing heavily at the very end. His death allows him to escape or rid his tie to the Night's Watch? Dany is in familiar land with rivals or will she be accepted? Cersi will unleash her vengeance next season? A lot of cliffhangers and a long wait until next year.
June 17, 201511 yr The problem with Jon resurrecting with the help of the Red Witch is that would make this The Song of Fire( Jon) and Fire( dany). I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't a White Walker. The Night's King in Hardhome found him really interesting.
