Do the All-A fans out there realize the tournament organizers just selected an arbitrary enrollment number for inclusion in the tournament? They could change it tomorrow to schools under 200....or under 1000. And still call it the All-A. Or the All-AAA. Big, medium, or small - it's a private regular season tournament.

I could see it being a problem if they were just called the state champs. However anytime anyone talks about the All A State Champions, they call them exactly that the All A State Champions. Which is by no means confusion for just State Champions.

Basketball has basically two classes now one for the All A State Champion, and then the one for the whole state.

 

Then the teams in the All-A will not be participating in the State Tournament at the end of the season since they are in a different class, right?

 

So if a tournament includes all the teams in the state from a certain class as the All A does, what else should they be called besides All A State Champs

 

Makes sense. Except you forgot one thing. We don't have classes in basketball. Who the All-A includes is up to them - they could make it schools sized 200 and below - or 1000 and below. Or only schools in Region 1,5,14, and 16. It's a regular season tournament, not a playoff.

When KHSAA splits the schools like they do in Football and Track, then they can call themselves state champs, until then, its a nice tournament as I've said.

Its really sad that you have a problem with kids saying they are the All A State Champions. I could see it being a problem if they were just called the state champs. Its not like the tournaments you mentioned, which are great tournaments. On the KHSAA scoreboard it says All A State tournament. It may not be sanctioned by them but they do recognize it on their scoreboard as the All A state tournament
