BGP Beer Connoisseurs: What Did You Think Of Budweiser's Super Bowl Add?

I didn't read the articles, but I thought the ad was sort of confused. On one hand, it seemed like they were trying to lure in the craft-brew crowd, referring to Budweiser as a "macro-brew," about how the beer had been Beechwood aged since the 1800s, and generally played up the vintage, old-school nature of the beer (something valued among the hipster crowd). On the other hand, it was overtly mocking people who like craft beer. So, I'm not sure who it was angled toward. Self-loathing hipsters? Is that redundant?

They are just trying to sell their beer. People shouldn't be so sensitive. JMO

I think each type of beer has its time and place. If I'm eating wings and watching a game or having more than a couple I probably drink a Domestic pilsner . If I'm having a meal or relaxing I like to have a stiffer beer .

But I did find it amusing mocking hipsters. I love microbrews but you have to admit some people take it a little to serious.

But honestly at the end of the day if it's cold and my buddy hands it to me I'll drink it.

I didn't pay that much attention to it. Just figured it was a jab at beer snobs.

A beer snob did start this thread so I guess the commercial did it's job. LOL

Never understood the idea of advertising that deliberately alienates a segment of potential customers.

Certainly didn't endear me to Budweiser.

:lol2: Hey....the worst beer I ever had was GREAT. And when it's super hot out and I'm spending the whole day outside, not a chance I'm drinking anything that isn't nice and light. I'll bet you my consumption of American domestics compared to craft beers or imports is probaby 1:1. I can tell you, for sure, that I'll opt for Yuengling or Miller-Coors 100% of the time when I'm going for American domestics now, though.

Also... beer brewed "the hard way"? What the devil are they talking about?

That's what I thought as it was running. At first I thought they were angling their beer toward people who've been moving away from the Buds of the world (which seemed smart), then it was obvious they were mocking them. It just seemed schizophrenic.

Call me crazy, but I've had very few "craft beers" that I liked more than a good old fashioned domestic.

I am strictly a Bud Light girl when I do drink beer.

I like you more and more every day...

Crazy.
