If I heard correctly Kentucky is one of the only states left that does not separate its State Champions by class. So you are basically saying every single state champion in all the other states are not state champions and should not be crowned as a state champion. You are saying in football every single team is really not a state champion then correct?

 

It seems to me this is Kentucky's way of keeping its tradition of not separating into classes to crown a State Champion like every other state. So what exactly is your problem with the fact that this tournament which is done just like the big State tournament gives Class A schools a chance to say they are a State Champion. Its a chance to show that on an even playing scale by its class that a team can win a State Championship. It gives kids at these small schools something to actually truly shoot for. Quite honestly by having this tournament to crown a small school state champion, it keeps Kentucky up with the times on how things are done in today's age.

I think some fans are still bitter about there loss to Holy Cross. :sssh: That being said the All A is set up just like the Khsaa state tournament only difference not every team in the state is involved which is where I can see the argument above, but Holy Cross took care of business and won the whole thing and deservedly so are now known as State Champs! Congrats HC on a great memorable and magical run!

 

Can't wait for the district tournaments to start and see what the 9th region has to offer!

Does KHSAA issue a state championship trophy and recognize it in their system? If not, and KHSAA does not sanction it, then they are not state champions, just a winner of an all "A" tournament. that all. A tournament, big difference.

Nope, looked at KHSAA website and absolutely no recognition of an all "A" girls or boys basketball champion, no congrats, nothing. Interesting. Just like KTCCCA has an all "AAA" and a split "A/AA " indoor state championship. Not recognized by KHSAA, just another track meet for bragging rights. Big whoop!

You can't use other states. We live in KY and they chose to crown one state champion in every sport except football and maybe track. What other states do is irrelevant to this discussion. If KY had classes, then we would most likely have 4-6 state champions in basketball. But they don't! So we have one!

 

And for the record, this has nothing to do with HC. Very happy for them. You can see the joy in their faces!

You are correct, they sanction our HS athletics as does NCAA for College. And "if" we did do what other states did, then yes, more state champions......Oh yeah and no 7th or 8th graders playing HS ball either.......Congrats on HC tournament win.
