Holmes 64 Highlands 62

Featured Replies

Those are less opinions and more of observations about how the game unfolded, not trying to be the "Captain", just following the thread title and thought I might add some detail to what happened during the game. Thought it was germane to the discussion more so than my physical stature or resume. Sorry to offend.

Someone really likes themselves in this thread.

Good game to both teams it seems. Holmes has a pretty great team and Highlands is dominating too! the 9th will be a grudge match until the end. Look forward to catching those games at BOKC.

Lmao!! Well I know who you are, RCC pointed you out and your no D1 athlete in your prime, not even NAIA......because you help coach daddy ball you know it all? lol. I'll take "My Meat Head Rob Lowe, 2 BA, 2 masters degrees" over your ignorance any day. You better check yourself. I said nothing to you, but then, I just did.

In the 6th and 7th grade I was an all star in the Covington Independent School Leagues!! And I always brought home a satisfactory grade for PE class!! My momma was always very proud of me!!

ONLY TEASING!!!

Pretty high scoring game!

Great game last night! My wife and I were just talking about Adler last night. She reminds us of a good friend and teammate of hers in college Jamie Boehl. She rarely misses an open look. No excuses for losing her on the baseline. JOAT asked a good question? Alex was asked to go in the last 4 or 5 minutes of that game and she said NO? Was she sick or was it something else? As a Senior leader you have got to want to be in the action one would think? I know what I witnessed and I don't want to speculate further. Lastly hope for a quick recovery for Leigh our prays and thoughts are with that young lady as she hit hard.

I don't think you can narrow the 9th region down to just three. Yes, HHS, Holmes and HC are clearly the front runners. But NCC almost beat Holmes the other night, losing by 2 points, and has beaten both Ryle and Boone. I know NCC got smoked by HHS earlier in the year but on any given night ... you never know ... they could upset someone maybe? Notre Dame's record looks bad but they are playing a tough schedule and seem to be getting better as the year goes on. They could perhaps upset someone in district and then one of the big 3 doesn't even make the regional. No doubt the big 3 are clear favorites but there are some teams that could have a great night and spring an upset.

Your absolutely correct, but look at all the threads, always someone saying something that has nothing to do with anything, which was my point. Those stats about physical statue were about what it takes to be great, by any student-athlete that actually works at it every day, not me. Because some think its ok to just blurt out a team sucks over another when they have no clue what it takes to even be on a team. And observations are opinions, without stats. Plenty of teams out there in the world that have the stats and should have won, but didn't. You didn't offend me, but pick your battles, make your point, plenty of others on here and other threads saying much about nothing, like my buddy dg21 chiming in and calling me a meat head, so I should just say nothing? But here I go, saying nothing about anything, when the tread is about the game, so shame on me......

As all Momma's should be....but hey Remmac2, this had nothing to do about anything as well, so where's your quote and dig here on dg21? "ONLY TEASING!!!" Because that makes it ok and mature.......showing our youth what it's like to be an adult. BRAVO.

Witnessed the same thing from Alex and after she was visibly upset, I hate it for her, great kid. Mackenzie texted back she was good last night after the game. I'm sure she will feel it days later.

I am really having a hard timing following all of the nonsense in this thread so maybe I can ask a few questions and someone can hopefully discuss them without offending or ripping on someone. Why did Tubbs not play last night? Is the gag order out on why Combs did not play much in second half? How many seniors does Holmes have that see meaningful minutes? Did not recognize the coach from Holmes, where was he prior to coming to Holmes? Glad to hear Leigh is feeling okay. IMO, Holmes was going to have a tough time with her because of her ability to put the ball on the floor and use either hand to score around the basket. Lukjan gave some valuable minutes, but is not Leigh or Combs. Thought the downfall of the Birds last night were some ill advised shots that were taken in the latter stages of the game when they still had a lead. Some will say you do not want to step off the gas and others will say unless it is a chippy, pull it out and get your offense set and work for an easier opportunity or a foul.

Tubbs out resting knee (had surgery on it this summer)

2 seniors (Mayes, Parker)

Coach Perkins was a boys assistant at holmes before taking over girls program. And before that girls coach at North Hardin

Tubbs has been having some swelling and soreness from a torn meniscus that she had repaired over the summer. Holmes has 2 seniors that don't start but contribute in the first 8. And Perkins came to Holmes from North Hardin. Assistant on the boy's team before taking over the girls program last year.

Okay. Now heard from the Holmes contingent. Anyone want to take a gander at the Highlands questions?

Always respect your opinion and you're right again. And I would add Ryle and Boone to the teams with a chance. But I look at it kinda like this...two sayings that apply here. "So you're saying there's a chance" and "Pete Rose struck out once!". I don't mean that bad. I'm saying if we are talking about winning the region, it is a HUGE long shot for the other teams. The main reason...for someone to win it, they would most likely have to beat two of the three and for one of those teams to beat any of those three once will be a big challenge anyway...then to have to turn around and beat another one to win the region would be a huge challenge.

I know Holmes has had a few close ones against some of the teams mentioned, but IMO, they have the most tools in the toolbox and the highest upside. They do struggle in the half court and actually are starting to struggle guarding MTM vs teams that can put it on the floor and has shooters. They struggled to guard HHS last night and NCC in the half court the game before. However, those should be pretty easy fixes, I would think. They just hadn't had anyone expose that this year. And if they can figure out how to clean that stuff up, they are scary good and I think those close games against "the others" may not be there. If they don't, I agree they are vulnerable. But they definitely have the most tools to work with and it will be up to their staff to put those tools to use. (not getting any hints from me though!) DG21 and I discussed one last night! I do think there are some match ups with teams that could be interesting. Ryle vs HC could be a tough match up for HC. NCC vs Holmes as we saw. That doesn't mean either get upset, just interesting match ups.
