Well.............yes most gate but you have to factor in payouts to schools to determine if it is the biggest money maker. The bigger money events would not be sporting events though. Obviously NKU games do not draw as well and the regional is over many days. And having both boys and girls tournaments, some days may not make any money and you can actually have trouble breaking even on those days due to guaranteed payout amounts. It really is much more convoluted than a simple yes.

CCH has the biggest and the best of all Cheer sections, that we know. But it pales to most college sections and they do the same thing. Nothing is intentional. It is just part of the game. Everywhere basketball is played the students stand on the bleachers, why would anyone expect the BOK to be different. If they don't like it stop it. Don't cancel events.

There was no student section for the Bombers when CCH visited. Must just show up for GCL games.

Probably home studying. Compare student sections? Head to the new Nippert for the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown. Cov Cath and StX in football this year. Compare for yourself. Point of my response earlier, is that if this is as big a problem as it is some are saying, the school officials need to be contacted ( not only Cov Cath ) and then it is up to the schools to deal with their students. Pretty simple to me.

I heard the District tourney is being played at Holmes instead of The Bank, but not this......CRAZY!!!

 

The district is being played at Holmes because it is their turn to host and they chose to play it at home which makes sense.

Not sure I am in agreement with this. So, if the same kids come to your house to watch a game, you would need to communicate to them not to jump on your furniture and pull the banisters off of the wall. Comes down to upbringing. These kids need to have better common sense and parents need to teach them better.

According to KHSAA website that reports financials for all regionals BOK appears to be a win-win for the teams and BOK. The teams boys/girls get a guarantee payout of a minimum to be split of $65,000. 2014's split exceeded the guarantt minimum with a $69,000 payout distributed to the teams. Cannot imagine BOK ever giving up this extremely profitable event. They charge the schools $52,500 rent (7 times $7,500) and cover expenses which totaled about $6,000 generating a net $46,500 profit for BOK. Love the CCH spirit and any school body that similarly cares. Damage not excusable though and if damage is done, I would think a direct charge to the participating school would be a simple solution.

I love the enthusiasm of the Cov Cath student section, but think they take many things too far - as most student sections would if the school administration did little to discourage them. That's my issue from attending many of their games in the past. School officials allow the students to do things that I feel are poor sportsmanship at a minimum.

Hey, here is an idea, lets just keep CCH out of the regional tourney? Happy? I am sure some will be thrilled with this idea! Just another attack on CCH and now the student section, the only reason, "we can't beat them, so lets whine about them".

ANY good cheering section might cause some damage jumping up and down, but to say it's "destructive behavior" is claiming that they are doing the damage on purpose. One, have sturdy seats and bleachers, and repair any necessary damage as soon as possible. Bleachers won't last forever and as anything else, needs some TLC every now and then.

 

As PaNDA has shown, even NKU's student section has stood on those bleachers.

 

As I mentioned, I find it hard to believe that the BOK would break a contract for the regional tourney over a suggested issue during an even that had nothing to do with the regional tourney that they had the contract with. Also, if this is such an issue, why not send some of the NKU police officers over and have them stand in front of the student sections?

 

I would like to see proof that the BOK is actually considering this. As I said, it would be horrible P.R. for them to break the "contract" of the regionals.

 

I know this wasnt meant for me and the starting of this thread. You need to take a step back. I am just trying to confirm if the Regional Tournament will be there or not. I am a big fan of the CovCath Crazies and I think they are some of the best fans in the state. I certainly dont think they did anything destructive on purpose.

 

The reason for the thread was to get some sort of clarity because if it is at Holmes you better get their very early and run the risk of being shut out.

 

It may just be the District Tourney not being played there. But If it was to keep CovCath out of there they are going to have to also cut the Regional Tourney because I would say they have a 98% chance of being there and a 50% chance of winning it which means the Crazies could show up 3 times.
