Programs switching Brand Affiliation

Featured Replies

Wasn't sure where to put this, so put it in College basketball and football, but saw on a few sites where the following teams will be switching brand affiliation:

Tennessee: Adidas to Nike

Miami (FL): Nike to Adidas

Arizona State: Nike to Adidas

Cincinnati: Adidas to Under Armor

Hasn't Tennessee been ADIDAS forever? or does it just seem like that.

Miami IMO should have went to the new "U", Under Armor...perfect fit.

I wish Louisville would get away from Adidas.

Too much money involved.

I don't think a program would voluntarily be sponsored by Adidas unless that was their only option or the money was too much to turn down.

Adidas just makes ugly stuff, unless you go some of the NBA uniform route, but then it is just crazy expensive.

The UL basketball uniforms have been absolutely terrible.

They do a great job with the football uniforms though.

Adidas just cut Louisville a big, fat check. There's basically no way Louisville could get the same from Nike and probably not from Under Armor either.

Adidas takes care of the programs they sponsor.

They were able to pull UC away from Jordan Brand and one of the factors was not only do they take care of them financially but they get a lot more gear than what Nike provides.

Nike takes care of the elite programs that sport their logo but the rest don't get much. I've heard stories where when UC was Jordan, they would get shipments that were either wrong or late and sometimes didn't get what they ordered at all.

Under Armor is slowly passing Adidas and while the shoes aren't up to par with Adidas yet, having Steph Curry on board should help that transition. I like the basketball unis though. Very simple and not over the top like some of the Adidas unis. UA also is becoming a big factor on the AAU circuit. Wouldn't surprise me to see more programs switch from Nike to UA.

Those Robo-Cop looking jerseys that Adidas puts out are unreal. Nike and UA have the upper lleg in other areas, but Adidas jerseys are the best in the biz.

The real "Tark the Shark" said in his book "Runnin Rebel", he wished he would stayed with Nike when he went to Fresno State. He said Pat Knight was always gracious and generous to him during their tenure. He was trying to stay loyal to his buddy Sonny Vacarro who left Nike for Adidas, if he had to do over, he would of stayed with Nike and Knight.

What does Bobby Knight's kid have to do with it :lol2:

For the record, I was referring to their football jerseys.

That is funny, sorry about that one. Phil Knight ☺️

Amazing how much money goes thru major universities with these brand changes etc........I guess its time to switch from pepsi to coke at our hs. We need a new undersized score board at the football field
