Five-year-old boy gets a bill for missing school friend's birthday party

Featured Replies

A FIVE-year-old boy has been handed an invoice – for missing his friend’s birthday party.

And now his parents claim they have been threatened with the possibility of court action if they don’t stump up the cash.

Derek Nash and his partner, who live in Torpoint, discovered the ‘no show fee’ invoice for £15.95 in their son’s school bag last week.

Mr Nash, a delivery driver, said he “thought it was a joke”.

So, does this mean I can invoice the idiots that RSVP'd for my wedding, but no-showed? Morons cost us $40+ a piece. :D

I'd send monopoly money. Then ask for a receipt.

Send 20 dollars, ask for change and a receipt. :lol2:

Same here, almost half of our RSVP people didnt show, luckily we took the risk and dropped our headcount but still paid for some that didnt. Bride was not happy, she sent nasty grams instead of thank you cards to her side of the family.

At least you won't be busy during the holidays.

The kid could file bankruptcy, it would be gone by the time he's 12. That would be outstanding.

Too much attention over nothing. I can see both sides, but if the mother of the birthday kid would have somehow found the parents of the kid who did not show and explain she had to pay for the no-show. I'm sure that most people would agree and pay the money. Is sounds like the father of the kid who missed was only upset about the invoice being sent the way it was, but not really upset over the fee, so why not pay it? It also sounds like birthday boy was told by his mother not to talk to or play with the kid who missed, which I see as the only thing really wrong with this situation.

wise move.

This converts to a little over $24 bucks in US dollars.

I was going to say, if you sent $20 and asked for change, you'd get another invoice requiring the balance and with a late fee tacked on.
