Lincoln County 66 Boyle County 55

We will see them again at least 2 more times. Not really worried. I want to win the big games the district and Region. But I will say this, we want win neither if Hagen only takes 9 shots. I'm out!!

PP, you would think Steve would have that zone figured out by now. Looks like we were lost on offense a few times tonight.

It was like they were scared to execute and trust their ability to score. Chapman can score the ball shooting jumpers and penetrating. We all know what Hagen can do. Keagan has been penetrating to the basket better than I have ever seen him do it and is still a threat to hit from deep and Colton is able to be a presence in the paint that requres attention. A friend of mine sent me a text today saying how this group of Lincoln seniors has owned this group of Boyle seniors dating back to middle school. They've seen this zone for 4 years but last year when these teams were pretty much the same teams we had a super hard time scoring against their zone and tonight it was the same thing. Last year we didn't have anyone like Miah who attacked the zone the way he did tonight. Did he settle for a jumper a time or two too many? Maybe. But he got the rim and into the paint at will. Had he made all of his free throws he has 40 points. When he was in the paint he either scored or he was fouled.

When it comes to Boyle County there is no person I trust more than Steve. Sure, Coach Jackson currently has his number but before last year Steve was 5-1 against him in the previous 6 games. Steve can beat Jeff. We need to get these Boyle boys to believing they can beat these Lincoln boys because I am not sure that they believe they can do it. IMO it's all mental right now and that drives me nuts because they are too damn good IMO to have anyone in their heads like that.

I don't disagree. I'm just not with blaming Jeremiah for Hagen only taking 9 shots. IMO that is totally wrong and off base and a potentially dividing criticism for anyone to make after one loss.

Uh, didn't see anything to make it intentional.

That was my feeling too. I think it was just because of things that had been going on prior to that play.

At one point.. they stopped play to chill out Keagan Hinkle and Timmy Taylor. They were bickering at each other non stop

I was bothered by the fact that the one ref always seemed concerned with what our players were saying to Lincoln players but pretty much seemed to ignore whatever Lincoln players were saying to us. Happened all night.

Im not PP but maybe it wasnt Steve that was having problems with the zone. Maybe it was the Players that struggled with it and couldnt figure it out.
The past 4 games now Lincoln zone has caused the Rebels problems. Can't stand around against the zone, gotta move, pick the backside, work the middle, get out on fast break so the zone can't set up, and most importantly penetrate and kick the ball out to your shooters.

The only comment I'll make about this thread is that I see way too much commenting directly about individual kids, calling them out (by name) for how great they are or aren't. I can only imagine how Coach Jackson & Coach Adams must feel about seeing their kids picked apart like this. Guys, you need to support your teams and the players, but leave the individual coaching to the coaches.

The funny thing to me is we have been beat by Lincoln the last 4 times and nobody got on here and talked about how many shots Hagen took in those 4 losses. If we get beat again and he takes 30 shots are we gonna say Hagen has to cut back a little and keep his team involved? Take a hard look at this Boyle team! They are not a team, team ball was played by Lincoln. Maybe we need to let Elkins touch the ball every time down the court? If Elkins plays for Lincoln he scores 15+ every night cause they would use him i guarantee that!! So there are a lot of ifs that are being stated but Boyle better figure out how to be a team!

Regarding Lincoln, as was stated above, this senior class has owned every team from the surrounding counties since their 6th grade year. On paper, it probably shouldn't have been that way back then and really shouldn't be the case now. But, they've been playing together since third grade (with the exception of Pittman who came on board as a freshman). They have a really good PG and a really good SF. They have limited size and aren't overly athletic. But those 2 talented players they have are supplemented by a top-notch coach and role players that understand and are willing to accept their roles in order to win. Great, great chemistry and superb basketball IQ. That last aspect isn't given enough weighting by most folks. Love or hate Lincoln, but you have to respect them.

As for Boyle, they have more talent but they don't have Lincoln's chemistry and, at least overall, their level of basketball IQ. That's not meant to be an insult to Boyle as they are by no means alone in this. Great chemistry and a high basketball IQ are things that teams should work towards. The degree to which Boyle can make strides in those areas will determine how far they go this year.

Elkins played in pain the entire game, never was himself. Lower back is a lot worse today. Look for him to miss some games this week.

I hope it isn't too serious. I heard that he was in some pain today.
