January 16, 201511 yr As Jihadists continue to spread in western nations, is Islam running the risk of imploding? Will we see a social war against Islam if these attacks continue and/or spread? I believe it is time for Imam's to step up and lead their faith to internally reject Jihad and these terrorists in an open way or Islam and those who practice it will become a target in western society.
January 16, 201511 yr A lot of them have rejected the extremist, we just don't hear about it. They are scared to death of them as well. But as I said in the thread about the Pope, as he is a target of them now, if anything should happen to the Pope, all bets are off and you will see things to end the extremist, at any cost.

They need to not be scared, and use the powers of their numbers to take their religion back. There is only so much that will be put up with in the name of freedom of religion before certain countries begin things like violent mass expulsion of whole populations of people.

I agree but I do have certain sympathy for them. It is my understanding that while the extremists don't like "infidels" like you and I, what really sets them off are fellow muslims who in the extremists opinion are blasphemous/apostic (sp?) and speak out against violence against the infidels. There was a doctor in NY who eventually fled the US after being targeted a few times for daring to speak out on CNN interviews and such. As a result, most moderate Muslims feel all they can do is just keep quiet which is not liked by the extremists but is tolerated, for now. In some way shape or form, you are correct, the moderates do need to speak out, the question is how to do it without guaranteeing your death.
January 16, 201511 yr Sounds like these people can be compared to many in Germany when the Nazis rose to power.
January 16, 201511 yr Sounds like these people can be compared to many in Germany when the Nazis rose to power. Yeah, Germans who questioned the Nazi way often disappeared.
January 16, 201511 yr I will say that that there are about 1 Billion Indians waiting for the West to give the order. They have no love for Islam. That scares the crap out of me.

January 16, 201511 yr 21st Century Crusades? Whatever that might look like. The Church doesn't have the muscle to go full crusade these days, nor does it have the inclination. What's more likely is that we'll see things boil over in places where Christians and Muslims are teetering together on a knife edge.
January 16, 201511 yr What a dramatic difference between those two faiths . Everything about them is opposite.

It would take wide spread slaughter of Christians in Mulslim lands (much more wide spread than what ISIS was doing) before the church would consider requesting Christian Nations to go to war.
January 16, 201511 yr What a dramatic difference between those two faiths . Everything about them is opposite. Not really Both are monotheistic. Both are Abrahamic faiths. Both have prophets (share some of the same ones too). Both accept the virgin conception of Jesus. Both believe in the after life. I would say from a top level, Christianity is closer to Islam than Buddism, Hinduism and other faiths. While there obviously are some differences (one having a messiah, one not being the most obvious), they are similar in many ways too. Many say Islam was somewhat similar to Christianity of the Middle Ages when blasphemy was punishable by torture and/or death. Since Islam is just not as old as Christianity, maybe it just has more time to "mature" like Christianity has.

In some way shape or form, you are correct, the moderates do need to speak out, the question is how to do it without guaranteeing your death. I have a deep sympathy for them as well. But at the same time, they need to look in the mirror and make the sacrifice for a better future for their offspring. What's going on now ain't working, and is only going to result in an expulsion/isolation of the people — or perhaps worse — if they don't get their house in order.
January 16, 201511 yr Christian Nations Do we still have any of those? Even Ireland no longer considers itself explicitly Catholic in its constitution any more do they? Who's left? Malta?
