January 17, 201511 yr Not really Both are monotheistic. Both are Abrahamic faiths. Both have prophets (share some of the same ones too). Both accept the virgin conception of Jesus. Both believe in the after life. I would say from a top level, Christianity is closer to Islam than Buddism, Hinduism and other faiths. While there obviously are some differences (one having a messiah, one not being the most obvious), they are similar in many ways too. Many say Islam was somewhat similar to Christianity of the Middle Ages when blasphemy was punishable by torture and/or death. Since Islam is just not as old as Christianity, maybe it just has more time to "mature" like Christianity has. I am ABSOLUTELY no authority on religion, but I was wondering about the parallels.

January 20, 201511 yr This thread has me wanting to write a "Tom Clancy" type novel with the thesis of Christian Militants assassinating the Pope, and implicating fundamentalist Muslims. When it comes to managing Muslim extremism, its much more efficient to promote hostilities among your enemy, rather than confront it directly. The answer to Dick Cheney's famous question of whether the country would be in better shape with Saddam still in power is a resounding YES.
January 20, 201511 yr And you know they don't.......how? You made the accusation, burden of proof is on you. So what do you got? Would I say there could be limited examples of this? Possibly but to make a general statement I believe is quite presumptive. On what view examples I have read about, some extremists go to regular mosques with regular muslims and keep their extremism to themselves waiting for the opportunity to strike. If being a member of a mosque and get to know one or two others who could be swayed to their line of thinking, all the better for them but, I am pretty sure they show up in the US, Europe, where ever planning to blend into society before striking.
