I'm total old school. I like a coach who will still hand out a good butt chewing.

 

However Carr imo just looks and acts crazy to much. The affect on the players after seeing his act over an over can't be good.

 

You can coach any team to play hard without constantly going nuts on them. I chuckle every time i see a coach getting praise for this style.

I guess no one has seen a college coach berate a player for not doing their job.

It depends on what the issue is. What if it is hustle/attitude/effort?

 

I was told they were pulled because of a lack of intensity and effort...playing for Brad Carr,that's a quick way to find a seat next to him on the bench.

Where are you EZ living? You had a question as to why Carr would cut someone or why someone would not want to play for him. I think if you glance through this thread it may give you the answer you were looking for. Very good coach, his style is very harsh.

Can I use this approach on my 7-8th grade combo cut team as well? Hey, they do it in HS and college so it must be the way to coach.

His style has worked for him thus far, so why change now? Should he tone it down a notch? Maybe, but he gets the most out of his kids and always has. So getting beat like this comes back on him and his coaching style? Everyone has those types of losses. If players would listen to the coaches more often rather than their parents, there would be a lot less "berating."

His style is his style. It think he is good coach but Not personally a fan of that type of coaching. It works for him and there should be no surprises if you or your child plays for him. He has pretty much been the same man. Great guy off the court as well.

Brad can be tough. And intense. But he has mellowed some over the years. This is not the Carr from 8 or 9 years ago. Yes he demands a lot from his players, and his intensity shows clearly on the floor. But to say his style hasn't changed some over the years would be wrong.

Carr has indeed changed his coaching style over the years but he is still demanding and intense. He is much more reserved on the sidelines and in the huddle.

 

I would imagine that he finds it frustrating to be coaching effort at this point in the season. While he doesn't have a lot of seniors these players have all grown up in the program.

 

Carr did use his timeouts last night. If my memory is correct he used 3 in the first quarter and half that the starters/regular rotation players played. Was not ballistic in any of the timeouts and appeared to be coaching them up from a phrase used earlier in the thread. Did all he could to stop the Boone County runs from the sideline.

 

Team was beaten down the court consistently last night and they continue to have issues guarding in the half court. They were down by 25 and had only scored 11 points in a quarter and a half when he pulled his starters.

 

Have to be able to win games when shots aren't falling and that starts with a tough mentality and being able to get stops on the defensive side.
