Is this a district game?

There are only about 3 teams IMO that can win the 9th.

Birds, Holy Cross, Holmes (maybe NDA but...)

If you're one of these three teams why would you want to play your main competitor in a regular-season game where the opponent is not at full strength? You aren't preparing for nor learning about your opponent so you go into the 9th region tourney without knowing.

I say "call me when you're healthy and we'll get the game scheduled."

FINALLY...someone has caught on!!!

Is this a district game?

No, but conference game...for what that's worth.

I tend to be in this boat. However, the "sorry folks, gym's closed" comment confuses me.

Agreed. Nothing to see here folks.

So is girls' basketball the only sport where this is the prevailing mindset? Heck, we'd never play a football game.

It may sound harsh, but I tend to agree. Lace 'em up. The Scott boys did a month ago ant took their lumps. Probably made them a better team in the long run by giving reserves lots more PT at the varsity level.

I don't know all the details but on the surface this doesn't make the program look to good. When kids are sick, go to your bench. They have plenty of kids but apparently they don't believe in them enough to compete. Sounds harsh but their actions speak volumes.

I agree, Scott and many other teams just manned up and kept on playing. What happens with HC if they have kids sick in the districts or Regions? Will they re-schedule (I know... not an option)? or will they just forfeit?

Come on coach, don't let the pressure get to you..... coach. I've always been taught as a leader that anyone can lead when things are going smooth. Real leaders step up when times are tough.

As I would prefer to play them full strength and I really don't care that they cancelled, but I agree with you. The other thing is, if kids are forced into competing, they will gain valuable experience that potentially could help the team down the road. They may not win the league game, but who cares??? I'm not knocking them, because I don't know every detail either, but the only way I would cancel a varsity game is if I physically didn't have enough to field a team. Heck, two years ago, we went to play in a tournament at East Jessimine. The Saturday we played was prom at HHS (I know, poor scheduling! It was my first year!) But I could have cancelled that tournament in plenty of time for people to not even realize we were in it. 6 of our 9 players left early in the morning to go home and get ready (Girls!). I knew they were leaving before the season started, but we stayed and played anyway because I wanted to throw my backups in there to compete. We lost two games to two good teams, but my kids got some great experience.

If you have coaches that are worried about a regular season game or their record or polls, then that's not good. I have NO IDEA if this is the case here, but I'm in agreement with Soccer Dummy. Without knowing all the details, it doesn't look good for sure.

Perhaps this cancellation is not about HHS at all, but being healthy for all A.

:deadhorse::poop:

Sleet, snow, rain, freezing cold, we expect boys to play through it in football. We also see it in boys and girls soccer as I frooze my butt during regional tournament. So why not in girls Bball? They sit up to 13-16 girls per team, if you can't depend on your bench to step up, develop them, teach them how to compete against the starting 5 of the opposing team, if not, then what's the point? Injuries come with it, man up. Sorry their hurt and you won't play them at their best, who's to say the roles won't reverese in the regional tourney. Are they going to stop and say, sorry, let's postpone? Stupid and shame on HC. Same crap happened last year with snow days and Boone Co. No dates to make up, but truly just didn't want to play it.

It sounds like in past threads that HC has had some players sick all year. Maybe its best not to play and pass it on to other teams. I wouldn't want my team to just know catch whatever it is and run through the team up to the playoffs when you need everyone healthy.

Football is the only one that it could not happen.
