theguru Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I talked to a friend of mine from Highlands the other day and I gave him my early early prediction for the 3A title game. Of course, my friend didn't like it when I told him I thought Bowling Green would beat Higlands in the 3A title game so he proceeded to tell all the Birds that would listen.:creepy: I think Highlands is going to be the favorite in the east and the Purples have to be the favorite in the west. It is time for that egg to hatch!
cammando Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Maybe a little bit early.. Wouldn't the Birds have to travel to lets say Rockcastle or even Bell Co. first?? Or would HHS play at home this year...

I am sure the people in Park Hills will probably disagree though.

oldonetechnique Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I also think Highlands is the favorite, but that is a long way away, I think Bowling green will falter a little down the stretch, due to the spanking they took in the finals last year.

It is time for that egg to hatch! A well planned and executed ambush is a thing of beauty, isn't it Ru? :ylsuper: Seriously, I think the Birds have a great shot of winning it this year, but there are a whole lot of very talented teams in the east that the Birds will have to contend with, including but not limited to, CovCath (always have to start with your biggest rival), Rockcastle, Bell, Ashland and S Oldham to name just a few. And if we can survive that, we'd then have to face the West, which most likely will be the Purples. I think the east has the stronger side of the bracket this year, but I may be wrong. Any real contenders for the West other than the Purples and if so, which teams and how many returning starters and impact players do those teams have? Someone forgot to tell his Highlands friend that someone's prediction was to be held in confidence, which was a mistake on someone's part, particularly when someone knows his Highlands friend will use everything and anything for motivational purposes whenever possible.

garfish Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I agree with Ru, I think Highlands will be there, and I like their chances of winning it all. their won loss record in the state final really favors them winning.
Raiderbback04 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 leatherneck is always the voice of reason! :thumb: Correction, your honor! Leatherneck is ALMOST always, usually, generally speaking, often, fairly consistently the voice of Bird-brained reason.

WoodyJr Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Guru: Your early prediction certainly has some value to it but I'd love to hear some of the reasons that convinced you those 2 will meet. I'm a Tomcat fan but I would think Rockcastle should be a big preseason heavyweight pick. They ought to have an incredible line down there and have been making progressive steps in the playoffs each year. Not that I don't think my Cats will be a pushover, it just seems Rock has earned the preseason hype. Also, does Lex Cath not have as much talent back or do you feel they have too much adjusting to do this year? You get around a lot and I enjoy your observations [though I think many of us out in the state don't quite get your northerners banter with each other sometimes;)] so how do you compare the East vs. the West in AAA (primarily). It seems like the teams over here, and the mountains too, are more & more competitive as a whole. Rather than just a few exceptional teams, more of our teams appear capable of winning than ever before (example: #1 Rockcastle barely surviving against #4 Mason Co in the 1st round). How does the west compare in your opinion? Thanx for your hard work.:ylsuper: Cheers, Woody Jr
Oxnard Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I also agree with the Guru's 3A prognosis that it will be a Highland/Bowling Green final. The Purples have an awful lot coming back this fall, and I think PurpleHaze is foaming at the mouth, eagerly awaiting the Rafferty's Bowl opener with St. X. This game should reveal a lot about how good Bowling Green actually is. Many of their players will be much better prepared for the big 3A finale in the Pizza Box, since they experienced it last year.
