January 4, 201511 yr Author More importantly if they win they play Denver I beliebe. This is true. I was joking about the real small chance of both Bengals and Ravens winning out over tomorrow and next week.
January 4, 201511 yr More importantly if they win they play Denver I beliebe. Highest seed, (Baltimore 6) goes to New England. Cincy (5), or Indy (4) goes to Denver.
January 4, 201511 yr I said they were due to lay an egg. Sadly I was right. Good season however all things considered. The rookie class was overall very good. Shazier played well last night. Tuitt is going to be a force. Bryant is an emerging stud and likely #2 receiver entering next season. But this is my last chance to say it in game context, Mike Mitchell is the worst safety in football. His first helmet to helmet shot was totally unnecessary and led to a TD drive. His floating around in the endzone clueless as to who was in any sort of route cost them another one, and a FG would have been the result there, not to mention, perhaps the worst tackling safety I've ever known. I have no doubt that this team would have been better with Ryan Clark, as bad as he is. The lack of ability to bring in quality FA this offseason was a huge disappointment. They had the cap room to make a play for some better personnel and whiffed. Lance Moore was a joke. Mitchell sucks. Cam Thomas was finally benched after abysmal play. Some holes could have been filled better without a couple of stinkers in the draft like the 3rd round "luxury" pick on Dri Archer who has no business in this league. And while I'm railing on them, the offense with Bell healthy was simply a thing of beauty for the bulk of the season. And it's true they missed him last night, but I don't think he'd have made enough difference. The defense was junk last night. And I'll end with this, the defense is better when Troy is out. He lacks the fundamental ability to stay within the confines of the defense at his age. 5 years ago, his skill and ability was unmatched by any in the league. I hope for his sake, and for the sake of the team, because no one in the front office has the nuts to make that decision for him, that he retires for the best interest of both. Troy has a huge financial future for a couple of years without a direct football income. He's a HOF'er, no doubt.
January 4, 201511 yr Now reports are that Mitchell is having surgery for a torn groin. Says he played all season with it. If he had a groin issue it happened 3 games ago, not all season. Sadlly, this is the type crap that will keep him around next season. Maybe "repaired" he'll magically learn how to defend the pass and tackle.

He's lost several steps but is still trying to play like he did 5 years ago and he simply can't anymore.
January 4, 201511 yr Ravens are living a charmed life right now. Last three weeks they have played Houston with its 3rd string QB (lost), Cleveland with its 3rd string QB (struggled mightily), and Pittsburgh without Bell (won). Look for Brady or Gronk to get hurt in practice this week. Oh...and yes, before anyone says it, I hate the Ravens...
January 5, 201511 yr There's only 1 team in the AFC playoff picture that worries me as a Pats fan. The Ravens. For whatever reason, when it comes to postseason play the Ravens have had Brady and Co.'s number lately. Last two playoff matchups in NE have ended in Baltimore victories. I think this is the best Patriots team top to bottom since their last Super Bowl winning team, but still very nervous about this one. Dang it, Pittsburgh, why couldn't you have just pulled it out and allowed me a couple more weeks of relaxation?
January 5, 201511 yr When LeVeon was ruled out, I lost all confidence in a victory for this one. He's that good. Go Pats.

Not many better than him in the game. Flacco and Eli have a lot in common, in that when you least expect it they can become all-pro caliber in big games. Neither get rattled.
