Knott County Central 56 Muhlenberg County 55 (OT)

Final in OT

What a game this was. Game would be back and forth. KCC was up 9 with about 6 minutes to play before heading to overtime.

Knott County plays 5 games in about 7 days. Knott County goes to 12-1 and will face Harlan County on Tuesday night in the WYMT classic.

I'm not sure the impact of travel was taken into consideration when this game was scheduled.

Justice 15 pts 6 RBs.

Hall 14 pts 7 RBs 3 blks.

Christon 15 pts 7 RBs 4 stls.

Chance 11 pts 8 RBs.

Combs 1 pt.

Agree. I was surprised by this scheduling decision.

No doubt. No way this game should have been this close.

Agreed

Left Hindman Last Friday

From Hindman to Myrtle Beach 495 Miles

Played North Little Rock on Saturday

Watched their coach be hospitalized on Sunday

Played and lost on Monday

Won their second game at BBC on Tuesday

Won their third game on Wednesday

Left Myrtle Beach on Thursday

Traveled to Knoxville on Thursday 412 Miles

Traveled to Muhlenburg County Friday 278 Miles

Played an overtime game tonight

1185 total Miles plus all the travel in town in Myrtle Beach

Going home tomorrow morning 283 Miles

I would estimate these kids have totaled at least 1700 miles in a week.

They have also gone 4-1. Tough group of hombres.

And let's not forget they traveled the Saturday before to Morehead

to play Covington Catholic.

And the WYMT starts Tuesday! Enough said.

Player says to the Principal, Do we have to go to school on Monday.

That team has some grit. Love it.

How is the coach? I missed that he was in the hospital.

Surprised this game was this close but considering the above, I think KCC gets a mulligan in this one. Can't imagine a group doing that much travelling in one week. Most AAU teams don't even do that much travelling in a month...let alone in a week for a high school team.

All teams travel a lot this time of year. That's not an excuse. Maybe they overlooked MC a little? KCC's schedule hasn't exactly been loaded. Don't be surprised if they get "tested" like this by a few more teams this year.

Wondering what the difference was in MC in this game and the game where Henderson beat them by 25?

Was in a go kart accident in South Carolina. Team was there riding in the go karts and a player accidentally T-boned the coach and he was hospitalized.

Dang. I love go karts. He doing better now?

I think that much travel over such a short time span had to have a huge effect on the Patroits' performance. They had to be very tired.

And on your second point, like all teams during the course of their season Knott has probably played a few teams that are not a challenge, but I wouldn't call Covington Catholic or the teams in the Beach Ball Classic exactly "not loaded". However, I'm sure you are correct in assuming that they will be "tested" going forward.

Letcher County Central (twice), Powell County, June Buchanan, Hopkinsville, Belfry, Jenkins, PCC, Buckhorn, Sheldon Clark, and Rowan County is their schedule going forward. Throw out Hopkinsville and its not exactly murderers row. Not being tested might hurt them once they get to the state tourney.
