No another dept and yes he did reapply.

 

This basically goes on at every change of Sheriff in Kentucky.

I'm not following what your saying? I just commented that if he was "Hiring his buddies" as you say they must either have already been certified officers (have gone through the academy) or be willing to go through the academy for 6 month. Not sure what your response has to do with what I said.

I'm sure the county GOP and new sheriff in town have a list of which law officers were naughty and which were nice in the last election. The current deputies also likely know who's staying and who's moving on "to pursue other job opportunities."

Not really like this in the private sector. How often is a new manager in the private sector hired and every employee has to reapply for their job?

 

It doesn't really even happen to many other county government jobs outside of the Sheriff's Office.

 

I've had it happen multiple times. You didn't necessarily need to reapply but the new manager met with all employees to determine responsibilities and value. Downsizing has happened because of this. Heck, sometimes the manager would call in a consulting firm and take their advice...and they're gone in 30 days.

Well our world just got turned upside down. Guess I'll start packing. I have never been so edited and upset all at the same time. We have a family with two small children who in two days will no longer have health insurance all over politics.

 

No the new sheriff fired everyone and everyone had to reapply. He sent edited an email saying he needs to turn his stuff in Monday. But he's such a great guy according to everyone else. A great guy wouldn't fire a qualified deputy and leave his family without health insurance an now we will lose the house and car.

 

Kidwell had everyone fill out applications because they had not done so. Jim Daily the new jailer didn't force anyone just had them update their applications. We ALL had to "voluntarily" be interviewed by Jansen and 2 of his attorneys. Very uncomfortable. I'm not the only one who was not rehired.

 

That's all I will say on social media as well. Because alot of people rooted for good ol Jansen cause he is a "good guy" and I would be fine.

Politics in general sucks ,same old same old !!!

It sucks, but it's life. Tough breaks happen.

 

I don't understand the big deal about this. It's like a new coach of a sports team. He needs to bring his people in that he thinks will help him be successful. Simple as that.

Replacing overpaid athletes is a little different than replacing someone getting by on a Police Officers Salary.

 

I guess you'd be cool if your boss walked in tomorrow and gave you two days notice and fired you for NO reason.

I understand letting someone go "For Cause" but because they didn't vote for you is weak.

 

New Police Chief comes in he can't fire every police officer, Sheriff shouldn't be able to either.

 

No way Deputies shouldn't be at least as protected as police officers.

I agree but that's the way it is. All Sheriff employees serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff. I know, I am one of those employees.

Still doesn't mean it's right. In Indiana it's not like this, in fact you'll have deputies run for Sheriff against the sitting Sheriff and not lose their jobs.
